Dia is the most thoughtfully designed of the current AI-browser wave: instead of bolting a chatbot onto a browser, it builds around tab-scoped memory and reusable "Skills," and pairs that with genuinely better privacy defaults than Comet or Atlas (local encryption, granular access control). For people who lived in Arc and want an AI-native successor from the same team, it is the natural pick.
The caveats are real. Dia runs only on macOS 14+ Apple Silicon, with no confirmed Windows date, so most of the world cannot run it yet. Skills still misfire on complex requests, and the free tier caps AI usage (Pro is US$20/month). It is a polished early product, not a finished one — promising for Mac users, irrelevant for everyone else until cross-platform ships.
