Talkie in Southeast Asia
Talkie has meaningful organic traction in the Philippines, which consistently appears in its top-five country download charts alongside the US, UK, and Canada — driven by the market's strong appetite for English-language entertainment and parasocial content. MiniMax leadership explicitly named Southeast Asia as a strategic expansion priority from spring 2024 onward, citing lower marketing costs and high engagement potential in niche language markets. However, as of mid-2026 no localised interfaces, regional pricing, or Southeast Asian language support have materialised, leaving significant headroom for region-aware competitors. Indonesian and Malaysian users who prefer their native languages will find Talkie's English-first design a meaningful barrier.
Talkie's appeal is a huge community-built character library and a memory system you can pay to extend: Talkie+ Pro now promises permanent retention. Its weakness is availability. Apple's US store dropped the original app in December 2024, so US iPhone users get it as Talkie Lab, and Google Play delisted it from 23 April to 7 May 2026 over what Talkie called certification problems.
App-store ratings are strong, but Trustpilot sits at 2.7 from 64 reviews. The minimum age is 14, or 16 in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. There is no developer API.

Talkie is MiniMax's overseas character-chat app: users build or pick AI personas, give them a personality, appearance and voice, and talk to them by text or voice. MiniMax's 2025 annual report says its M2-her model now underpins both Talkie and its Chinese sibling Xingye. The app is published by SUBSUP PTE. LTD., a Singapore company, and on 12 October 2026 the Android listing, now titled "Talkie: Creative AI Community", showed 4.5 stars from about 856,000 ratings and more than 50 million installs. MiniMax itself listed in Hong Kong in January 2026 under the code 0100, not the code earlier versions of this page gave.
Availability is the recurring problem. Apple's US App Store dropped the original Talkie app in December 2024 for what the company called "technical reasons", and US iPhone users now get it as Talkie Lab, a separate listing first released in February 2025. On 23 April 2026 Talkie told its community that an upgrade had run into Google certification problems and the Android app had been pulled; it returned on 7 May, with some community features flagged as possibly unavailable for a while longer.
Talkie+ is the paid layer. On the website, Standard costs $9.99 a month and Pro $24.99, with quarterly and yearly discounts; the first year of Standard is $49.99 and it renews at $95.99. Pro, which this page earlier described as coming soon, is live, and its main extra is permanent memory retention with full memory editing, against Standard's extended retention. Both remove ads and lift chat limits. A newer Talkie Claw beta pushes characters into Telegram and Discord.
Trustpilot is harsher than the app stores: 2.7 from 64 reviews on 12 October 2026, on an unclaimed profile. Of the 60 reviews that page served, 7 described account bans, and filters, glitches and ads came up about as often. The terms set a minimum age of 14, rising to 16 in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. There is no developer API for Talkie itself.
