How to choose an AI video or audio tool
Sample reels are marketing. Judge these tools on their failure cases. Can they hold a face across a cut, a hand around an object, or text on a sign? Can a voice keep one character for ninety seconds? Everything can produce four impressive seconds.
Clip length and shot control are what separate a toy from a tool. Generating one beautiful shot is a solved problem. Generating a second shot that matches the first, with the same character, lighting, and room, is not, and that is what decides whether a tool can carry work or only a demo.
Pricing here is rarely a subscription in any meaningful sense. Most of it is credits, and the exchange rate between credits and finished seconds moves with resolution, model tier and whether audio is generated too. Work out the cost of one usable minute, then multiply by the number of attempts you actually needed.
Then read the licence. In this category it is a core term, not a footnote. Commercial rights, catalogue licensing, and what happens to work you already generated have all changed under users mid-contract during the past year.
