Overview
Kling (可灵) is the AI video and image generator built by Kuaishou, launched in June 2024. Kling 3.0 makes clips of up to 15 seconds with native audio and 4K output, and Kling 4.0 is rolling out from late 2026. Since July 2026 the business sits in Beijing Kling, a Kuaishou subsidiary that took about $3 billion from investors including Tencent, Alibaba Cloud and Baidu while Kuaishou kept a 68% stake.

Kling is one of the strongest commercial AI video generators: Kling 3.0 adds native audio and 4K output, motion control and an API priced per second, and Kuaishou's own results show it earning real money, above RMB 850 million in Q2 2026. It is still Kuaishou's business, held in a majority-owned subsidiary rather than an independent company, so the outside funding adds runway rather than separation.
The weak side is the account experience. Credits expire monthly, the free tier withholds HD and commercial use, and Trustpilot reviewers complain about billing and failed renders. The kling.ai site serves ASEAN users in English and US dollars; budget for wasted credits, not just the subscription.
What we found
Kling (可灵) is Kuaishou's AI video generator, released as Kling 1.0 in June 2024 and now the most commercially proven product in its category. Kuaishou reported Kling revenue above RMB 650 million in the first quarter of 2026, up more than 300% year on year, and above RMB 850 million in the second, up more than 200%. Its July filing put the annualised revenue run rate at about $500 million in March 2026, against a net loss of RMB 1.9 billion for 2025.
The corporate change needs stating carefully, because earlier versions of this page called Kling an independent company. It is not. On 2 July 2026 Kuaishou announced that the Kling business would move into a subsidiary, Beijing Kling, which raised about RMB 20.4 billion, roughly $3 billion, from outside investors at a pre-money valuation of $15 billion; press reports put the post-money figure near $18 billion. Investors include Alibaba Cloud, Baidu and two Tencent-controlled companies. Kuaishou keeps about 68% and still consolidates Kling's results, and investors can demand redemption if Beijing Kling misses its listing deadline. Bloomberg reports the team now works from its own offices, and the financing terms assume an eventual stock-market listing.
The model line moves fast. Kling 3.0, launched in February 2026, brought 15-second clips with native multilingual audio, and native 4K output arrived in the second quarter with a 3.0 Turbo model, an MCP server and a command-line tool. Kling 4.0, announced in late September with 30-second clips and up to ten keyframes, is so far a Flash version for Ultra annual subscribers.
Plans list at $10, $37, $92 and $180 a month, charged at $8.80 to $159.99 on monthly billing and about a third less annually. Monthly credits expire after 31 days; purchased credits last two years. Free users get a monthly credit grant but no commercial use, HD output or watermark removal. Trustpilot showed 1.2 from 411 reviews (read 14 Oct 2026), mostly about billing, failed renders and support.
