Wordvice AI is built by an editing company rather than a chatbot startup, and it shows in the focus on academic papers, theses and submissions, and in the option to hand a draft to a human editor. The free tier is a genuine trial at 5,000 words a month but limits each tool to two modes and omits the plagiarism checker.
Watch the billing period: the headline $9.95 is the annual rate, and Premium costs $19.95 paid monthly. Premium PRO at $26.95 a month annually makes sense only if you will use its human-proofreading credits. Outside academic and formal English, a general assistant covers most of the same ground.
What we found
Wordvice AI is the software arm of Wordvice, a language-editing company that says it has edited for researchers and students since 2013 and lists offices in Seoul, the United States, the UK, Tokyo and Beijing. The AI product was online by June 2021 as the Wordvice AI Proofreader, a grammar and style checker designed by academic editors, with a Korean-language option from the start. Its terms of service cite Korean statutes on personal and credit information.
The suite has since grown to an AI proofreader, paraphraser, humanizer, translator, summarizer, plagiarism checker and AI detector, plus ChatPDF, citation generators, grammar checkers in eleven languages, a document editor and extensions for Chrome and Microsoft Word. The differentiator is still the human service behind it: Wordvice sells editing by native English-speaking editors, with turnaround from 9 hours to 7 days, and its top AI plan includes credits that can be spent on that.
Pricing differs from what this page said before. The $9.95 a month we quoted is the annual-billing rate; the plans page, read on 14 October 2026, lists Premium at $19.95 billed monthly, $15.95 a month billed semi-annually or $9.95 a month billed annually, with 1,000,000 words a month, all proofreading and paraphrasing modes and 20 pages of plagiarism checking. Premium PRO, which we did not list, costs $29.95 a month or $26.95 billed annually and adds 1,000 monthly credits, each worth one word of human proofreading. The free Basic plan allows 5,000 words a month, 500 words per submission and two modes per tool, with no plagiarism checker. Team plans are annual only, from $9.95 per seat a month for three to nine seats down to $8.45 for 50 or more.
Wordvice claims 1.5 million writers across 25,000 institutions; those are its own figures. We could not read the review sites today, so earlier claims about reviewer consensus have been removed. No public developer API is documented. For students and researchers who want an AI pass now and a human editor when a submission matters, it is a coherent package.
