Grammarly remains the most widely deployed writing checker, and the core job of catching mistakes and adjusting tone in almost any text box is as reliable as ever. Language support has widened beyond English, and the free plan is genuinely usable. The company around it has changed: since October 2025 it is Superhuman, and enterprise buyers are steered towards Superhuman Go.
Watch the billing period: Pro is $12 a month only on a $144 annual plan, and $30 month to month. The Expert Review lawsuit, stayed for mediation, is worth following for anyone weighing how the company handles real people's identities. A dependable choice for polishing English.
What we found
Grammarly is the writing assistant that began in Kyiv in 2009 and grew into the company that now calls itself Superhuman. In 2025 Grammarly bought Coda and announced the purchase of the Superhuman email app, and on 29 October 2025 the company changed its own name to Superhuman Platform Inc. Grammarly carries on as a product inside the Superhuman suite, beside Coda's docs, Superhuman Mail and a cross-app agent called Superhuman Go. In June 2026 Superhuman also agreed to buy GPTZero, the AI-text detector, and plans to fold it into Go.
The product itself still does what it always did: it checks spelling, grammar and tone in the browser, desktop apps, Office, Google Docs and phone keyboards, then offers sentence rewrites and generated text. Earlier versions of this page called its non-English support thin. That is out of date: five European languages arrived in September 2025, and the suite pricing page now advertises correction in more than 20 languages.
Read the price carefully. The free plan includes 100 AI prompts a month. Pro adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, plagiarism and AI-text detection and 2,000 prompts per member, and the $12 headline is the annual rate of $144; paid quarterly it is $60, and month to month $30. The Superhuman suite sells its own Pro at $12 a member annually or $15 monthly, and Business, which adds Mail, at $33 annually or $40 monthly. Enterprise, priced on request, is now sold through Superhuman Go.
One controversy is still open. In March 2026 a journalist filed a proposed class action in the Southern District of New York over Expert Review, a feature that simulated editing feedback in the names of real writers without their consent. The company withdrew the feature and calls the claims without merit; in June the court stayed the case until 15 October 2026 for mediation. On Apple's US App Store the iPhone app rates 4.7 from 226,099 ratings, read 14 October 2026.
