monday AI works on the boards a team already keeps, which is its real advantage: agents, sidekick and AI columns act on live project data rather than pasted text, and vibe builds small internal apps on top of it. The credit catalogue is published in detail, and many built-in helpers cost nothing.
The weakness is predictability. Agents and sidekick are billed by task complexity, from about 10 to more than 250 credits a run, so the monthly allowance can go quickly. Worth enabling for existing monday.com customers; not a reason to adopt the platform.
What we found
monday AI is the AI layer of monday.com, the Tel Aviv-founded work-management platform, and it has been rebuilt more than once. monday.com announced its first AI plans in April 2023, with a beta of the monday AI Assistant scheduled for that May. In July 2025 it launched three products that now define the layer: monday magic, which builds a board or workflow from one prompt; monday vibe, a no-code builder for custom business apps; and monday sidekick, a context-aware assistant that can take actions. Agents, an AI meeting Notetaker, AI columns and an AI workflow builder sit alongside them, and the homepage now calls the product an AI workspace for people and agents.
The pricing changed in 2026. Accounts that joined on or after 6 May 2026 buy AI credits together with seats, with minimums of 1,000 credits a month on Basic, 2,000 on Standard and 3,000 on Pro, listed at $10, $20 and $30. On the pricing page we read on 14 October, a special monthly discount cancelled that cost, so Basic showed $9 a seat on annual billing, Standard $12 and Pro $19. The free plan for two seats has no AI at all.
Consumption is uneven, which matters more than the headline price. monday.com's own catalogue lists AI blocks at 8 credits an action, the Notetaker at 120 credits per meeting hour, sidekick at roughly 10 to 150 or more credits a message and agents at roughly 10 to 250 or more credits a run, depending on complexity. Admins see usage in AI governance and get alerts at 80% and 100% of the allowance. Many built-in helpers, including formula building, board filters and doc writing, use no credits.
For teams already running work in monday.com, the AI is a sensible addition because it acts on boards they already maintain. For anyone else it is not a reason to switch platforms, and heavy agent or sidekick use should be modelled before signing.
