ASEAN Perspective
Pi in Southeast Asia
ASEAN-region availability and pricing notes coming soon. Drop the editorial team a note via /contact/ if you can supply local context (Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam).
Pi remains the standout for empathetic, conversational AI: its warm tone, natural voice and broad availability across messaging platforms make it a comforting companion-style assistant that many users prefer to colder, task-focused bots.
The caveats are real. After Microsoft hired much of the original team, Pi's frontier ambitions faded, and it is explicitly weak at coding, complex reasoning and technical work. There is no developer API, and its long-term roadmap is uncertain, so treat it as a companion tool rather than a productivity workhorse.
