The search product launched in early 2024 under the line 没有广告，直达结果, roughly "no ads, straight to the result", and that is still the description on its homepage. Answers come as a structured summary with numbered citations, and can be expanded into outlines, mind maps and tables of related events, organisations and people, then exported to Word or PDF.
Search can be scoped to the whole web, academic literature, documents, images, video or podcasts. The academic scope lets users pick a Chinese library, an English library or PubMed. Searches run at three strengths, from concise to a research mode that Metaso offers free to signed-in users, and the model menu now lists a fast mode alongside DeepSeek V4, V4 Pro, V3.2 and R1 options for longer reasoning. Users can also upload documents to a bookshelf, build shared topic knowledge bases and save repeatable research workflows. In August 2026 Metaso added MiniMax's H3 video model, sold in credit packs from 1,000 credits for ¥10.80 to 500,000 for ¥4,399.
For developers, Metaso opened a search API in July 2025 with search, web-page reader and question-answering endpoints. Launch coverage on the aggregator aitop100.cn put the price at ¥0.03 per search query and said new accounts received 5,000 free points. Metaso's own playground confirms that fetching full source pages costs 3 points per page and that MCP is supported, but keeps the full price list behind a login.
On Apple's China App Store the app rated 4.0 from 897 ratings, read on 14 October 2026. The interface is Chinese-only and sign-in is by scanning a QR code, so it suits readers of Chinese who want a citation-led alternative to the ad-supported search engines they already use.
