The costs are less predictable than the $25 headline, because a prompt's credit price depends on how much work it triggers, and the April 2026 exposure of public-project chats and code is worth reading before trusting it with customer data. It grew out of GPT Engineer, an open-source code-generation project its founders released in 2023, and the company dates its own launch as Lovable to November 2024. Since then it has added a planning mode, drafts for trying versions side by side, nearly 100 app connectors, subagents, mobile apps for building on iOS and Android, and in September 2026 a free chat mode for talking through an idea or an existing project before spending build credits.
The business figures are company-reported. Lovable told TechCrunch it passed $400 million in annualised revenue in February 2026, and co-founder Fabian Hedin put it above $600 million at the HumanX summit in September. Its $330 million Series B at a $6.6 billion valuation, led by CapitalG and Menlo Ventures, closed in December 2025; earlier versions of this page dated it to June 2026. Read its April 2026 incident report before putting customer data through it. By Lovable's own account, a backend regression meant that from 3 February to 20 April 2026 the chat history and source code of public projects could be read by any Lovable user with a link. Researchers reported it through HackerOne from 22 February, but those reports were closed without reaching Lovable's security team. The fix shipped within two hours of public disclosure, and existing public projects were made private.
Pricing runs on shared workspace credits rather than seats, and a prompt's cost varies with its complexity, so long debugging sessions cost more than quick edits. On Trustpilot, Lovable's claimed profile, a paid subscriber, showed 4.2 from 1,820 reviews, read 14 October 2026. It suits prototypes, internal tools and MVPs; generated code still deserves an engineer's review before serious production use.
