LightOn is mid-pivot, and this page should be read that way. After a new chief executive arrived in July 2026, the company dropped generalist Paradigm positioning for document search: LightOn Core ingests messy files such as scans, emails and spreadsheets, answers with the exact page and date, and inherits your SSO permissions, while LightOn Apps turns that into metered workflows. Its open OCR and retrieval models are real strengths.
Its listing makes the numbers public: 2025 revenue of €1.74 million, a €4 million half-year loss and cash to September 2027, so weigh vendor risk. Public prices were withdrawn in October 2026, and for ASEAN teams it is a reference design for sovereign search more than a near-term buy.
What we found
LightOn has changed shape since Paradigm was its flagship. In July 2026 co-founder Igor Carron resigned as chairman and chief executive, and Jean-Philippe Baert took over as chief executive. On 29 September the company told investors it was moving from a generalist generative-AI platform, historically centred on Paradigm, to an offer built around search. The website now sells LightOn Core, which ingests and indexes a company's documents and answers with page-level sources while respecting existing access rights, and LightOn Apps, a layer for building, deploying and metering document applications on top of it. The same release says it will now favour cloud deployment, through SaaS, managed VPC or bring-your-own-cloud, to speed up roll-outs.
Because LightOn is listed on Euronext Growth Paris under the ticker ALTAI, its numbers are public. The November 2024 listing raised €11.9 million at a €62 million market capitalisation, and Euronext described LightOn as the first company devoted solely to generative AI to list in Europe. Revenue for 2025 was €1.74 million, up 54%, with Paradigm licence sales nearly tripling. First-half 2026 revenue rose 51% to €1.1 million, but the company also lost €4 million in the half, recurring revenue sat flat at €1.9 million, and it arranged up to €4 million of bonds to fund operations to September 2027. Activity is mainly in France; site logos include Région Île-de-France, Sodern, LBPAM, Afnic, Orange Business and HPE.
On the research side, LightOn publishes models openly on Hugging Face, including the Apache-licensed LightOnOCR-3 document-reading family released in October 2026, rerankers and the PyLate retrieval library, and it offers developers Python and TypeScript SDKs plus an MCP server.
Buying is a sales conversation. The published Starter and Business price list was replaced by a "Coming soon" page in October 2026, and the site offers 15-day API test access. For ASEAN buyers it is a reference design for sovereign document search rather than something to adopt off the shelf.
