HUMAIN Chat is worth trying for one job: conversation in Arabic, including dialect voice input, from a model built and hosted in Saudi Arabia. It is free, needs only an Apple, Google or email sign-in, and switches between Arabic and English mid-conversation.
Evidence on quality is limited to one small arXiv study that used other AI models as judges, and app reviews that swing between pride and frustration over speed and sign-in failures. HUMAIN publishes no country list, its Google Play listing still says "Beta", and there is no paid tier or price list. Treat it as a strong Arabic option and an unproven general assistant; for ASEAN users it matters only where work happens in Arabic.

HUMAIN Chat is the consumer chat app of HUMAIN, the artificial-intelligence company owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. It launched on 25 August 2025 on web, iOS and Android, running ALLaM 34B, an Arabic-first model that the app listing describes as built in Saudi Arabia and fully hosted there. ALLaM was introduced by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and later adopted by HUMAIN. The app handles Arabic and English in the same conversation, takes voice input across Arabic dialects from the Gulf to the Maghreb, can search the web before answering and remembers preferences.
It is still free. The App Store lists it as free with no in-app purchases, and the web app asks only for an Apple, Google or email account. Launched for Saudi Arabia, the iOS app now also appears in other storefronts, including the US, UAE, Singapore and Malaysia, but HUMAIN publishes no list of supported countries and almost all ratings come from Saudi users: 4.5 from about 2,000 ratings on the Saudi App Store and 3.7 from 1,730 reviews on Google Play, both read 12 October 2026. The Google Play listing still says "Beta".
Outside evidence on quality is thin. A single-author arXiv paper ran 23 prompts five times each through the chat interface and had GPT-5, Gemini 2.5 Pro and Claude Sonnet 4 grade the answers, averaging 4.92 out of 5 on creative generation and code-switching, 4.74 on Modern Standard Arabic and 4.21 on dialects. That is a small sample marked by other models. App Store reviews split the same way: praise for Arabic that is "aware of heritage and context", complaints about slowness, failed sign-ins and answers one Saudi reviewer likened to "an llm from 2013".
ALLaM is moving beyond the app. A 7-billion-parameter ALLaM model is published on Hugging Face, and in August 2026 HUMAIN and Microsoft said they intend to offer ALLaM through Microsoft Foundry. For ASEAN readers the app matters mainly to people who work in Arabic; it supports only Arabic and English.
