FPT.AI is a strong choice for Vietnamese-language and Vietnamese-ID workloads: eKYC that reads chip-based ID cards and checks them against the Ministry of Public Security database, OCR with a template library for banking and insurance, and text-to-speech in three regional accents. IDC listed FPT as a Major Player in Asia-Pacific virtual assistants.
Prices are not published, though a self-serve console and a small text-to-speech trial let developers test the APIs. Its accuracy and scale figures are FPT's own. Best for banks, insurers and contact centres operating in Vietnam.
What we found
FPT.AI is the AI platform of FPT Smart Cloud, the cloud and AI company of Vietnam's FPT Corporation, run from Hanoi with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo. FPT dates the platform to 2017. It now sells ten products: FPT AI Agents for building multilingual agents, AI Chat, Engage, Enhance, Read for document OCR, eKYC, Mentor, Voice Maker for text-to-speech, Adjust, and a generative Voice Agent for call centres. FPT AI Factory, the company's GPU cloud and token-serving business, is a separate offering at factory.fpt.ai.
The eKYC product is the most specific. FPT says it reads document surfaces, QR codes and NFC chips, checks more than 30 signs of fraud, offers several liveness methods against deepfakes, and connects to the Ministry of Public Security's resident database to verify chip-based ID cards. It also claims to lift eKYC success rates by more than 30%. FPT AI Read claims up to 98% accuracy with a library of more than 50 document templates, and Voice Maker offers male and female voices in Northern, Central and Southern Vietnamese accents. The Voice Agent page claims more than 20 million calls handled a month. All of these are vendor figures.
Scale claims vary even on FPT's own about page, which says over 1,000 enterprises in one paragraph and more than 3,000 clients in 15 countries in the next, with 200 million interactions automated. IDC named FPT a Major Player in its 2023 Asia-Pacific smart virtual assistants MarketScape. Earlier versions of this page cited G2 badges and review counts that could not be read today, and a Vietnam Airlines deployment that could not be traced to FPT; both are gone.
Prices are not on fpt.ai. Developers can open an FPT ID account, try the ID, passport, driver-licence, face-match, liveness and text-to-speech APIs, and pay through the FPT.AI Console; Voice Maker comes with 5,000 free characters to trial. Larger deployments go through sales.
