Fellow is an AI meeting assistant from Ottawa-based Fellow Insights that combines collaborative agendas and action-item tracking with an AI notetaker that records with a bot, botlessly from its desktop apps, or in person. It now targets regulated teams with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and retention controls, and moved from fellow.app to fellow.ai in 2025.

Fellow's strengths are structure and governance. Shared agendas and tracked action items make recurring meetings more disciplined, and bot or botless capture, redaction, retention policies, HIPAA BAAs and a stated no-training policy make it one of the easier notetakers to put through a compliance review. An MCP server and Claude connector feed meeting data to agents.
The free tier is only five lifetime recordings per user, and the Team plan caps AI notes at 10 per user a month, so most teams will land on Business at $15 a user a month billed annually. Best for meeting-heavy or regulated organisations.
What we found
Fellow is an AI meeting assistant made by Fellow Insights Inc. of Ottawa. Aydin Mirzaee, Amin Mirzaee and Samuel Cormier-Iijima, who had earlier sold Fluidware to SurveyMonkey, set the company up in November 2017 to build a tool for managers in back-to-back meetings, with Shopify as its first customer. Fellow's own timeline records a $6.5 million seed round and public launch in 2019 and a $24 million Series A in 2021. The AI notetaker arrived in 2023, and the move from fellow.app to fellow.ai was announced in a post dated 1 August 2025. Earlier versions of this page placed the rename in January 2026, which Fellow's blog and about page contradict.
The agenda workflow is still there: collaborative agendas, private notes, action items with due dates and several assignees and recaps. The pitch, though, has moved to security and regulated industries. Fellow records with a bot, without one through its Mac and Windows desktop apps, or in person, across Zoom, Teams and Meet. It says it is SOC 2 Type II certified, HIPAA-eligible with BAAs, and GDPR and CCPA compliant, and that neither Fellow nor its AI providers train models on customer meeting data. Newer pages court finance and legal teams with retention policies, redaction and Global Relay archiving. Meeting data can also reach Claude, ChatGPT and other agents through an MCP server and an official Claude connector.
Prices are per user per month. Free covers five seats with five lifetime AI notes and five recordings per user. Team costs $7 billed annually or $11 monthly, with 10 AI notes per user a month and API access. Business, at $15 annually or $23 monthly, lifts the note limit and adds sales recap templates and Salesforce and HubSpot sync. Enterprise is $25 billed annually from 10 users. The pricing table says transcription covers more than 100 languages.
Fellow pays off when a team commits to the agenda habit or needs governance controls. The free tier's five lifetime recordings make it a trial in all but name.
