For open-model image generation there's still nowhere with Civitai's depth: checkpoints, LoRAs and embeddings for SD, SDXL and Flux, prompt metadata baked into every gallery image, plus on-site generation and LoRA training so you don't need your own GPU. The operational picture is messier than the catalogue. Payment processors cut the site off in May 2025, so cards only work on the sanitised civitai.green mirror while civitai.com runs on crypto-purchased Buzz, and the UK was blocked outright in July 2025 under the Online Safety Act. A large share of content is NSFW or trades on celebrity likenesses, which rules it out for most corporate contexts, and moderation swings with processor pressure. Indispensable for hobbyists and open-model tinkerers; unstable ground for anything commercial.

A credit card no longer works on civitai.com — that one fact explains most of the platform's recent history.
