Browse for Me is still the reason to install it: ask a question and Arc Search reads several pages, then builds one tidy summary page instead of a list of links. For quick mobile lookups it beats a search-results loop, and built-in blocking of ads, trackers and cookie banners makes ordinary browsing cleaner too.
Treat it as finished software. Each Browse for Me query starts fresh with no follow-up questions, and that is unlikely to change: Atlassian completed its US$610 million purchase of The Browser Company in October 2025, effort now goes into Dia, and the 2026 updates carry only bug-fix and security notes. It is free, has no API, and arc.net itself was unreachable from Singapore on 12 October 2026.

Ownership is the context that matters. Atlassian agreed in September 2025 to buy The Browser Company for US$610 million and completed the deal on 21 October 2025. The company's own announcement put Dia, its AI browser for macOS and Windows, at the centre, and said Arc and Arc Search "will continue to exist", with a long-term plan to follow. No such plan has appeared in its newsletter since. In May 2025 it had already told Arc members it was no longer actively building Arc.
Arc Search is maintained rather than developed. Version 1.48.0 reached the App Store on 12 August 2026 with notes reading only "bug fixes and security improvements", the same line as the January 2026 releases; the last notes describing a functional fix, to images in Browse for Me results, date from late 2025. The Android build was last updated on 2 September 2026.
User sentiment is strong but increasingly wistful. The US App Store shows 4.9 from about 25,000 ratings and Google Play 4.5 from 14,400 reviews. Among the 500 most recent US App Store reviews, four ask for follow-up questions in Browse for Me, a handful report screen freezes, and several from 2026 say they still use the app while regretting that it no longer gets new features. Two reviewer quotations an earlier version of this page attributed to users appear in none of them.
One regional caveat: on 12 October 2026 arc.net redirected a Singapore connection to a notice that access is unavailable in the region, although the app is still listed on the Singapore App Store. Useful for quick research today; not a product to plan around.
