From gross to take-home in Malaysia
A Malaysian payslip nets off four statutory items. EPF takes 11% of the full wage (below 60). SOCSO and EIS follow the official PERKESO band tables, capped at the RM6,000 ceiling — together usually under RM45 a month. PCB, the monthly tax deduction, applies once income clears the threshold.
This calculator composes all four: EPF at headline rates (the official Third Schedule may differ by a few ringgit), SOCSO/EIS from the embedded official 65-row tables (exact), and a simplified PCB estimate using the YA2025/2026 brackets with the standard reliefs.
Employer-side contributions (EPF 12–13%, SOCSO ≈1.75%, EIS 0.2%) are not deducted from your salary — they are the employer's own cost on top of it.
Age matters: from 60 the employee EPF share is zero, SOCSO becomes employer-only and EIS stops, so net pay rises. Non-citizen employees contribute EPF at the mandatory 2% + 2% since October 2025.
Scope: resident private-sector employees. PERKESO's LINDUNG 24 Jam (SKBBK) contribution, foreign-worker SOCSO, zakat, and reliefs beyond the standard set are not modelled — treat the result as a planning estimate, not a payroll substitute.
A bonus attracts EPF and PCB but not SOCSO or EIS
Four statutory deductions determine a Malaysian employee's net pay: EPF (11%), SOCSO (≈0.5%), EIS (0.2%) and PCB.
EPF is the biggest deduction — 11% of wages for employees below 60, computed on the full wage with no ceiling.
SOCSO and EIS are capped at the RM6,000 wage ceiling (PERKESO, since 1 October 2024): the maximum employee deduction is RM29.75 + RM11.90 a month — before any LINDUNG 24 Jam contribution.
PCB only kicks in above the income threshold — lower-paid employees' net is usually just wage minus EPF/SOCSO/EIS.
On RM5,000 a month (single, age 30): take-home is about RM4,307 — after EPF RM550, SOCSO RM24.75, EIS RM9.90 and roughly RM108 PCB.
Bonuses attract EPF and PCB, but NOT SOCSO or EIS.
Employer contributions (EPF 12–13%, SOCSO ≈1.75%, EIS 0.2%) are not deducted from your salary — they are an extra employer cost.
Employees 60+ stop contributing EPF (0% employee share) and SOCSO becomes employer-only — net pay rises noticeably.
Standard reliefs (individual RM9,000, EPF RM4,000, SOCSO+EIS RM350) make effective tax rates far lower than the bracket rates.
This calculator uses the official 65-row PERKESO/EIS tables; EPF is estimated at headline rates and PCB simplified — real payslips may differ slightly.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Net = gross monthly salary − employee EPF − SOCSO − EIS − estimated monthly PCB. Each component is shown separately in the results.
- EPF — 11% of the full wage for employees below 60. SOCSO and EIS are far smaller because of the RM6,000 ceiling, and PCB depends on your income level and reliefs.
- Bonuses attract EPF and raise annual tax (PCB), but not SOCSO/EIS. This calculator spreads the bonus tax effect as a monthly average.
- Official EPF follows the Third Schedule (band table, not exact percentages) and official PCB uses LHDN's full formula. Differences are usually small. The SOCSO/EIS figures here ARE exact — from the official tables.
- The employee EPF share becomes 0% (employer 4%), SOCSO switches to Second Category (employer-only) and EIS stops — net pay rises noticeably.
- Yes for EPF (mandatory 2% + 2% from October 2025), but foreign-worker SOCSO — including the LINDUNG 24 Jam contribution — follows a separate scheme not modelled here; the tax estimate assumes resident status.
- Individual RM9,000, EPF up to RM4,000, SOCSO+EIS up to RM350, spouse RM4,000 and RM2,000 per child (where selected). Other reliefs are excluded — actual tax may be lower. The RM400 rebate for chargeable income up to RM35,000 (Income Tax Act 1967, s.6A) is also not applied, so below roughly RM4,000 a month the PCB shown can be up to about RM33 a month too high.
- No. Employer contributions are on top of your salary and paid straight to KWSP/PERKESO — they are not deducted from your monthly pay.
- No — Budget 2026 (October 2025) left the YA2025 resident rate schedule in place; LHDN's published table for YA2023–2025 is what this calculator applies.
- No. All calculations run entirely in your browser — your salary and family details are never sent to any server or stored.
Important — please read.
Estimates only — not payroll, tax, or legal advice. SOCSO/EIS use the official tables; EPF uses headline percentages (the Third Schedule may differ slightly); PCB is a simplified estimate of LHDN's method.

Rates as at 2026-09-13. EPF/SOCSO change by gazette; tax brackets at the October Budget. PERKESO's LINDUNG 24 Jam (SKBBK) contribution — in force since 1 June 2026 at 0.75% of wages up to the RM6,000 ceiling, borne by the employee — is not included; if you are enrolled, your payslip deduction will be higher than shown. How it computes
Net monthly pay = gross wage − employee EPF (age- and citizenship-banded headline rate, rounded up to the next ringgit) − employee SOCSO and EIS read from PERKESO's Act 4 and Act 800 wage-band tables under the RM6,000 ceiling − estimated PCB, being annual tax on LHDN's resident rate schedule (YA2023 onwards) after the five standard reliefs, divided by 12. Bonus is added to annual EPF and tax but not to SOCSO/EIS.
What this tool implements
- EPF Act 1991 Third Schedule headline rates from October 2025 wages (KWSP): 11% + 13%/12% at the RM5,000 threshold below 60; 0% + 4% from 60; 2% + 2% for non-citizens; contributions cease at 75 — computed at the percentage and rounded up, so a payslip built from the Schedule's ringgit bands can differ by a few ringgit
- SOCSO (Act 4, First Category below 60 / Second Category employer-only from 60) and EIS (Act 800, 0.2% + 0.2%, ages 18–60) from PERKESO's published 65-row band tables with the RM6,000 wage ceiling in force since 1 October 2024
- PCB simplified: annual bracket-walk on the LHDN resident schedule (0/1/3/6/11/19/25/26/28/30% at 5k/20k/35k/50k/70k/100k/400k/600k/2m) after five reliefs only — RM9,000 individual, EPF (cap RM4,000), SOCSO+EIS (cap RM350), RM4,000 spouse, RM2,000 per child; the RM400 rebate for chargeable income ≤ RM35,000 (s.6A) and all other reliefs and rebates are NOT applied — stated on the page
- Scope: resident private-sector employees; PERKESO LINDUNG 24 Jam (SKBBK), foreign-worker SOCSO and zakat are excluded and stated

What can make this go out of date
- KWSP rates change by amendment to the EPF Act Third Schedule (last: October 2025 non-citizen mandate); PERKESO ceiling and band tables last changed 1 October 2024
- LHDN resident rates and reliefs change at the October Budget for the following year of assessment (Budget 2026 left the YA2025 schedule unchanged)
