How it computes
Element data follows IUPAC. The subtlety most tables hide: for 14 elements the standard atomic weight is an INTERVAL, not a single number — hydrogen is [1.00784, 1.00811] — because the isotopic composition of normal terrestrial material varies with source. A single value for those elements is a convenience, and CIAAW publishes conventional values separately for when one is needed.
What this tool implements
- Atomic weights follow the CIAAW 2021 standard values. Where IUPAC publishes an interval, that is what the element has; a single figure is the conventional value, not the standard atomic weight.
- Element names and symbols follow IUPAC, including the four completing period 7 — nihonium, moscovium, tennessine and oganesson, approved in 2016.
- Group numbering is IUPAC 1-18, not the older CAS A/B system, which numbered the same columns differently on either side of the Atlantic.
- For elements with no stable isotope the mass number of the longest-lived isotope is shown in brackets, which is a different kind of quantity from a standard atomic weight and is labelled as such.

What can make this go out of date
- None at runtime. CIAAW revises atomic weights every two years; the table here is the 2021 set and its version is stated rather than assumed current.
