Compare Chinese AI image models: Seedream, Qwen-Image, Wan, HunyuanImage, ERNIE-Image and Kling, each row checked against its vendor's own page.
Chinese AI Image Model Comparison
Compare the current Chinese AI image (text-to-image, 文生图) models side by side — Seedream, Qwen-Image, Wan, HunyuanImage, ERNIE-Image, Kling Image, GLM-Image and MiniMax — by maker, what each vendor says the model is for, and how to get access. Every model links to the vendor page we checked it against. Everything renders in your browser; no model is ever called and no image is generated here.
Note: the strength column restates each vendor's own documentation, and the access column lists only channels confirmed on a vendor page. Vendors change fast — where a vendor page disagrees with this table, the vendor is right. This tool only compares; it never calls a model or generates an image.

Reading the four columns down to a shortlist
Start with the model and provider columns
The table lists the Chinese text-to-image models currently sold or openly released by their makers: ByteDance's Seedream 5.0, Alibaba's Qwen-Image 3.0 and Wan 2.7 Image, Tencent's HunyuanImage 3.0, Baidu's ERNIE-Image, Kuaishou's Kling Image 3.0, Zhipu AI's GLM-Image and MiniMax's image-01. Every model name links to the vendor page we checked it against.
Match the strength column to your image
The strength column restates what each vendor's own documentation says the model is for — not our benchmark. Alibaba, for example, recommends Qwen-Image 3.0 for complex layouts and small text, and Baidu positions ERNIE-Image for dense text, posters and comic storyboards. Decide what you need to make first, then use this column to shortlist.
Use the access column to see how you would get in
The access column lists only channels confirmed on a vendor page: an API, the vendor's own app, or downloadable open weights. Where we could not confirm a channel we leave it out rather than guess. Open-weight models can run on your own GPU, but their licences differ, so read the licence before any commercial use.
Test on the official platform before committing
This table only compares and shortlists — it never generates images and never calls a model. Once you have one or two candidates, click through to the vendor page, generate a few images with the same prompts on your real subject, and confirm current pricing and quotas there.
How the Chinese AI image-model comparison works
A map of Chinese text-to-image models, in the vendors' own words
Serious Chinese text-to-image work now comes from a handful of large companies and model labs: ByteDance's Seedream, Alibaba's two separate lines Qwen-Image and Wan (通义万相), Tencent's HunyuanImage, Baidu's ERNIE-Image, Kuaishou's Kling, and Zhipu AI and MiniMax. The field moves fast. A few months ago this table listed 文心一格 and Kolors; today one redirects to a different Baidu product and the other has gone from Kuaishou's API. For anyone working in Chinese, the hard part is rarely finding a model — it is that each vendor describes its own in its own marketing language, and the ways in differ. This tool puts them in one plain table — model, maker, strength and access — so you can see the whole field at once.
The comparison deliberately leaves out prices. Per-image and credit pricing changes too quickly, and a credit is worth different amounts on different plans, so any figure would soon be wrong. What stays useful for shortlisting is what the vendor says a model is for and how you can use it. For posters and layouts with a lot of text, start with the three whose documentation singles out text rendering: Qwen-Image 3.0, ERNIE-Image and GLM-Image. For output above 2K or strict brand colours, look at Wan 2.7 Image. To run a model on your own GPU, look at the open-weight releases. The table is a starting point that narrows eight options to the one or two worth testing properly.
"A comparison table is only as current as the day it was last checked — which is why every row here carries its source."
Why every row carries its source
The strength column restates what vendors say about their own models, and that is worth being plain about: it comes from their documentation and model cards, not from our testing and not from aggregator sites. Vendor descriptions lean toward what they do well, so use the column to decide what to try, not as a ranking. The real test is yours: pick one or two candidates, click through to the vendor, and generate a few images with the same prompts on your actual subject. Prompt-following, text rendering and taste are subjective enough that five minutes of side-by-side results tell you more than any table.
This tool is deliberately narrow. It never calls a model, never sends a prompt anywhere, and never generates or uploads an image. The table comes from a data file we maintain on our own domain; each row records the vendor page it was checked against and the date, and the sources listed further down this page are built from the same rows. The date under the table is the oldest of those dates, so if one row falls behind you can see it. What you filter and compare stays in your browser and is not sent to our servers.
What each vendor says its model is for
Chinese text-to-image (文生图) models turn a written description into an image. This table covers eight models from seven companies, and each row records the vendor page it was checked against and the date.
Seedream 5.0 (ByteDance): BytePlus lists it as its leading image model, citing better reference consistency and output quality for professional work, with layer decomposition among its capabilities. Outside China it is available in the Dreamina app.
Qwen-Image 3.0 (Alibaba): Alibaba Cloud recommends it for complex layouts such as newspapers, menus, storyboards and exam papers, with very small text rendered legibly and support for multilingual fonts.
Wan 2.7 Image (Alibaba, 通义万相): Alibaba points to it when you need output above 2K (up to 4K), precise brand colours, or a set of images with consistent characters in one request.
HunyuanImage 3.0 (Tencent): released with open weights and described by Tencent as the largest open-source image-generation mixture-of-experts model; an Instruct version added in January 2026 brings reasoning and image-to-image editing.
ERNIE-Image (Baidu): open-sourced in April 2026 with 8 billion parameters, it is pitched at dense text rendering, poster layout and comic storyboards, and Baidu says it runs on a consumer graphics card with 24 GB of memory.
Kling Image 3.0 (Kuaishou, 可灵): Kuaishou's image API is now sold under the Kling Image name and its documentation no longer mentions Kolors (可图); the 3.0 Omni version goes up to 4K output.
GLM-Image (Zhipu AI): Zhipu's documentation highlights Chinese long-text rendering and knowledge-heavy prompts, and the weights are published under the MIT licence.
image-01 (MiniMax): supports text-to-image and subject reference — supply one clear image of a subject and generate new images that keep its key features — and is offered through MiniMax's API.
This tool only compares and displays — everything renders locally in your browser. It never calls any model and never generates or uploads any image for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
- No. It is a comparison table showing each Chinese text-to-image model's maker, what the vendor says it is for, and how to get access. It never calls a model and never generates or uploads images — to create images, click a model name to go to its vendor.
- Seedream 5.0 (ByteDance), Qwen-Image 3.0 and Wan 2.7 Image (Alibaba), HunyuanImage 3.0 (Tencent), ERNIE-Image (Baidu), Kling Image 3.0 (Kuaishou), GLM-Image (Zhipu AI) and image-01 (MiniMax). Each row was checked against the vendor's own page, and the date under the table says when.
- It restates what each vendor's own documentation or model card says the model is for. It is not our benchmark and not an aggregator's summary. Vendor descriptions naturally lean toward their strengths, so treat the column as a way to shortlist rather than a ranking, and test on your own subject.
- Three vendors single out text rendering in their documentation: Alibaba for Qwen-Image 3.0 (complex layouts and small text), Baidu for ERNIE-Image (dense text and posters) and Zhipu AI for GLM-Image (Chinese long text). Those are the vendors' own claims — run the same text-heavy prompt through all three before choosing.
- Three are released with open weights: Tencent's HunyuanImage 3.0, Baidu's ERNIE-Image and Zhipu AI's GLM-Image. They differ widely in size and their licences are not the same — GLM-Image is MIT-licensed while HunyuanImage uses the Tencent Hunyuan Community licence — so read the licence before any commercial use.
- The 文心一格 site, yige.baidu.com, now redirects to Baidu's 文心助手 assistant, and Baidu's current text-to-image model is ERNIE-Image. Kuaishou's image API is now sold as Kling Image and no longer mentions Kolors (可图). Both rows were replaced when this table was refreshed in September 2026.
- Per-image and credit pricing at these vendors changes quickly, and a credit is worth different amounts on different plans, so any single figure would soon mislead. The table shows how to get access; confirm the current price on the vendor page linked from each model name.
- Every row links to the vendor page it was checked against. The date under the table is the oldest date any row was checked, so a single stale row shows up in that date rather than hiding behind fresher ones. If a vendor page disagrees with this table, the vendor is right.
- No. The tool needs no input from you; the page just renders the site's model data into a table, entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any model or third party, and your browsing is not stored.
- Completely free, with no account or sign-up and no usage limit. It runs in your browser purely to compare Chinese AI image models side by side and collects no personal data.
Method & sources
How it computes
Compares Chinese text-to-image (文生图) models on what each vendor's own documentation says the model is for and on how you can get access, not on price. Every row names the vendor page it was checked against and the date it was read, and the sources below are built from exactly those rows.
What this tool implements
- Each row names the vendor page it was checked against and the date it was read, and the Sources below are built from those same fields — a model cannot enter the table without its citation reaching this block.
- The "strength" column restates what the vendor's own documentation says the model is for. Alibaba recommends Qwen-Image 3.0 for complex layouts and small text and Wan 2.7 Image for output above 2K; Baidu positions ERNIE-Image for dense text, posters and comic storyboards. It is not our benchmark.
- The "access" column lists only channels confirmed on a vendor page. A channel we could not confirm is left out rather than guessed: HunyuanImage 3.0 shows open weights only, because Tencent's version-specific API page now redirects to an overview that names no version.
- ⚠️ No per-image price is shown. Pricing at these vendors changes faster than a table can be kept honest, and several bill in credits whose value varies by plan.
- Open weights are not unrestricted use: HunyuanImage 3.0 ships under the Tencent Hunyuan Community licence and GLM-Image under MIT, and the terms differ on commercial use.
- ⚠️ The date under the table is the OLDEST date any row was checked, so a stale row is visible rather than hidden behind a fresher one.

What can make this go out of date
- 8 models from 7 vendors' own documentation — ByteDance, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Kuaishou, Zhipu AI and MiniMax — checked by hand, not scraped and not taken from an aggregator.
- A static dataset shipped with the site. No vendor API is called when the page loads and no model is ever run.
- When a vendor renames, retires or replaces a model, the table is stale until that row is re-checked; the date under the table says when that last happened.
