India ranks as Semrush's second-largest traffic source (roughly 12.9%), signalling strong APAC adoption of the broader platform, but ContentShake's language ceiling makes it a poor fit for vernacular content in Southeast Asia. Content Toolkit earns its place for marketers who want SEO data and drafting in one subscription: weekly topic ideas, competitor-based briefs, brand-voice drafts, an optimizer and one-click WordPress publishing, all for $60 a month. Semrush Content Toolkit is the AI writing product Semrush first launched in 2023 as ContentShake AI; the old /contentshake/ address now redirects to the Content Toolkit, and the ContentShake name no longer appears on Semrush's product or pricing pages. Its pitch is unchanged: article ideas, briefs and drafts built on Semrush's own keyword, search-intent and competitor data, rather than on a general-purpose chatbot alone.
The workflow now runs through a chat panel beside a visual board. Topic Finder proposes weekly, country-specific ideas; the SEO Brief Generator builds outlines from top-ranking competitors; the AI Article Generator writes long-form drafts in a saved brand voice, with up to 50 voices; and the Content Optimizer scores drafts for search, AI-search visibility, readability and tone. Articles can be repurposed into social and email posts, sent to Google Docs, or published to up to 100 WordPress sites, and a Chrome extension called Semrush AI Writer and Editor rewrites text anywhere in the browser for subscribers.
There is one plan, at $60 a month whether billed monthly or annually, with a seven-day free trial. The pricing page lists 10,000 article generations a month while a help article still says unlimited; either way, only five drafts a month get the deeper SEO boost, with ten more costing $30 a month. Extra users are $20 a month each, and article generation covers seven languages.
Ownership has changed. Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush Holdings on 28 April 2026, paying $12.00 a share in cash, about $1.9 billion in equity value when the deal was announced, and Semrush now brands itself an Adobe company. Neither company has published a roadmap for the Content Toolkit. For small teams that want SEO data and drafting in one subscription it is reasonable value; heavy producers will hit the five-boost ceiling quickly, and every draft still needs a human edit.
