Reve is no longer a tool you can use. Generation ended on 27 September 2026, two months after an OpenAI investment took members of its research team, and sign-ups and subscriptions closed on 17 September. Its last model, Reve 2.1, was briefly second only to GPT Image 2 in Artificial Analysis's arena, so the closure removes a strong option for in-image text and layout control.
Existing users should export their images and videos before 31 October 2026. Everyone else should pick a current alternative; the prices still shown on Reve's pricing page cannot be bought.
What we found
Reve is an image generator and editor from Reve AI, Inc., a small team based in Palo Alto. Its preview model appeared in March 2025 and drew attention for following prompts closely and rendering legible text inside images. The company shipped quickly through 2026: Reve 2.0 in June, then Reve 2.1 in July, which plans a structured layout before rendering at native 4K by 4K, followed the same month by an API, team plans, templates and a Chrome extension. In late July, Blog du Modérateur reported Reve 2.1 in second place in Artificial Analysis's text-to-image arena, behind OpenAI's GPT Image 2.
Then the product ended. On 27 July 2026 Reve announced an investment from OpenAI, with members of its AI research team joining OpenAI to work on multimodal research, while saying Reve would keep operating independently. In September it went further. DigitalToday reported that Reve stopped new sign-ups and paid subscriptions on 17 September and would end image generation on reve.com at noon Pacific time on 27 September, refunding September subscribers. Reve's own help centre confirms that creating new images and videos ended after 27 September 2026, and that existing work can be downloaded from the web or mobile app until 31 October 2026. Uploaded images and references are not included in the export.
Co-founder Christian Cantrell told DigitalToday that the product studio would move from creative tools to other kinds of AI workflow. Reve has not said publicly whether its API survives; the console address now redirects to the app's home page. The pricing page still shows Free, Lite at $7.99, Pro at $19.99 and Teams at $59 per user a month, but none of them can be bought.
Anyone with work in Reve should download it before 31 October. For a replacement with strong in-image text, start with the models ranked near it in the same arena, such as GPT Image 2, Microsoft's MAI-Image or Google's Nano Banana 2, and check each one's current terms.
