Retell is one of the more complete toolkits for phone agents: low-latency conversation, human transfer, booking, batch calling, testing and QA are all on the platform, with a choice of models and your own telephony if you want it. Its vendor-reported growth to $80 million in annualised revenue suggests real production use.
The catch is cost modelling. The per-minute bill is the sum of infrastructure, model, voice, telephony and add-ons, so the realistic figure depends heavily on which model and voice you choose. Build a cost estimate on Retell's own calculator, and pilot any non-English deployment before scaling it.

No larger round has been announced since. Retell talks about revenue instead: $40 million annualised by November 2025 and $80 million by September 2026, both company figures without outside audit.
The product handles the parts of a phone agent that are hard to build yourself: fast turn-taking and interruption handling, transfer to a human, appointment booking, keypad-menu navigation, batch outbound campaigns, branded caller ID, simulated test calls and post-call analysis. Agents can run on models from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google, or your own, over Twilio, Telnyx or your own SIP trunk.
Pricing is pay as you go but assembled from parts, and that is what to model before committing. Retell's voice infrastructure costs $0.055 a minute; the language model adds from a fraction of a cent up to $0.32 a minute; most voices add $0.015 and ElevenLabs voices up to $0.10; US Twilio calls add $0.015. Retell quotes the total as $0.07 to $0.31 a minute. Numbers cost $2 a month, concurrency beyond 20 calls $8 per call per month, and add-ons such as PII removal stack on top. New accounts get $10 of credit.
Retell's pricing page claims SOC 2 certification and HIPAA readiness, with a BAA, custom DPA and SSO on Enterprise. Its terms carry a long addendum on consent rules for AI-generated calls, required reading before any outbound campaign. Rates are listed for Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand, but agent quality in regional languages needs a pilot.
