The current version, Agent 4 (March 2026), adds a design canvas and parallel agents, and usage is billed on effort, with a credit-free Free Mode for everyday tasks on paid plans.

Replit Agent owns the whole loop from prompt to hosted app: it plans, writes code, provisions a database, tests the result in a browser and publishes it. Agent 4 adds a design canvas and parallel agents, and since August 2026 Free Mode lets Core and Pro subscribers do everyday work without spending credits, within a limit that resets every five hours.
The catch is cost predictability. Bigger builds run in effort-billed modes, and a few ambitious prompts can exhaust a month's credits, so set a spending limit first. Strong for prototypes and internal tools; review the code before it touches real users or data.
What we found
Replit Agent is the AI builder inside Replit, the browser-based development platform run by Replit, Inc. of Foster City, California. It launched in September 2024 as an early-access feature for Core subscribers, labelled alpha software, and has been rebuilt twice since. Agent 3, released in September 2025, added testing in a real browser, a longer-running Max Autonomy mode and the ability to generate other agents and automations. Agent 4 arrived in March 2026 alongside a $400 million Series D led by Georgian at a $9 billion valuation. Replit calls it ten times faster than Agent 3, the company's own claim. It adds a visual design canvas, shared task lists for teams, and several agents working on separate parts of one project at once.
Pricing has changed as much as the agent. Work is billed on effort: each request ends in a checkpoint whose cost reflects how much the agent did, deducted from monthly credits, and Replit asks for confirmation before paid work starts. In August 2026 Replit added Free Mode, running on an OpenAI model, which lets Core and Pro subscribers chat and run everyday tasks without spending credits until a usage limit that resets every five hours. Heavier work runs in Power or Max Mode at effort-based rates. Core costs $20 a month, or $18 billed annually, and includes $20 of usage; Pro costs $100, or $90 annually, with $100 of usage and ten parallel agents. A free Starter plan, described in Replit's documentation rather than on the pricing page, gives daily Agent credits, the lighter Lite build mode and one published app that expires after 30 days.
Earlier versions of this page quoted a Trustpilot rating; it could not be re-read for this review and has been removed. The caution behind it stands on Replit's own terms: costs scale with effort, an ambitious prompt can use a month's credits quickly, and the pricing page warns that the agent may make mistakes. Generated code still needs review before it handles real users or data.
