The Official MCP Registry is an open-source catalog and REST API for publicly available Model Context Protocol servers, launched in preview on 8 September 2025 as the ecosystem's canonical source of truth for discovering and distributing MCP servers. It is a metadata repository designed to be consumed programmatically by downstream aggregators, marketplaces, and AI platforms rather than browsed directly, and supports public and private sub-registries. It is maintained by a working group with contributors from Anthropic, GitHub, Microsoft, Block, and PulseMCP.
