Qoder is Alibaba's serious bid for the agentic-coding market, now a family of IDE, JetBrains plugin, CLI, cloud agents and tools for non-programmers, with Repo Wiki generating documentation of your codebase. Two corrections to its reputation: it runs Chinese models — Qwen, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi and MiniMax — rather than Claude or GPT, and the autonomous Quest mode many reviews describe is being retired from the IDE in October 2026. Pricing is competitive, from $20 a month for 2,000 credits, with a two-week Pro trial; teams pay $40 a seat since April. Its operator is Singapore-registered and stores data in Singapore among other regions, which helps Southeast Asian buyers with PDPA questions. Independent reviews are thin and mostly about the 2025 preview. Worth a trial for teams comfortable with Chinese models; compare it with Cursor or Kiro on your own codebase.
What we found
Qoder is Alibaba's agentic coding platform, launched in public preview in August 2025 and sold internationally by a Singapore-registered company, Bright Zenith Private Limited, which stores data in the United States, Singapore and Japan and includes a Singapore PDPA addendum in its privacy policy. It began as an IDE with a chat-based Agent mode, an autonomous Quest mode for delegating multi-file tasks, and Repo Wiki, which documents a codebase automatically. In August 2026 Alibaba relaunched it as a product family: the IDE, a JetBrains plugin, a CLI that can run in GitHub Actions, cloud agents, QoderWork and QoderWake for non-programmers, and a mobile app. The Quest window in the IDE is being retired on 15 October 2026, with delegation moving to the new Qoder app. Qoder reports five to six million users and more than 100,000 companies, figures that vary between its own sources.
Its models are Chinese, not the Claude, GPT and Gemini mix older descriptions claim. The selector lists Alibaba's Qwen 3.7 and 3.8, DeepSeek V4, Zhipu's GLM, Moonshot's Kimi and MiniMax, routed through Auto, Performance and Ultimate tiers. Repo Wiki now runs on the local client and is off by default; workspace indexing uploads code to build vectors and, Qoder says, destroys it afterwards.
Paid plans have existed since September 2025. The free plan includes a two-week Pro trial with 300 credits, limited completions and next-edit suggestions, basic models and bring-your-own-key. Pro costs $20 a month for 2,000 credits, Pro+ $60 for 6,000 and Ultra $200 for 20,000; Teams costs $40 per seat with 3,000 credits each, SSO and shared credit pools, after a price rise in April 2026; Enterprise adds model-routing policy and audit logs. Extra credits cost $20 per 1,500.
Independent reviews are scarce. The most detailed, from the August 2025 preview, found Repo Wiki only 5% complete after two hours on a repository of about 6,000 files; that indexing has since been redesigned, so test performance on your own codebase.
