ASEAN Perspective
Plandex in Southeast Asia
ASEAN-region availability and pricing notes coming soon. Drop the editorial team a note via /contact/ if you can supply local context (Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam).
Plandex is an open-source (MIT) terminal-based AI coding agent built for large, multi-step tasks that span many files, with a large effective context window, context caching across OpenAI/Anthropic/Google, automated debugging of build/test/lint commands, and a reviewable diff-based workflow. It supports any OpenAI-compatible model plus OpenRouter, and can be fully self-hosted, which appeals to developers who want control and BYO-key economics.
It suits terminal-native developers comfortable with CLI workflows and self-hosting who value transparency and model flexibility over a polished GUI. Caveats: the hosted Plandex Cloud offering wound down in late 2025, so the path forward is self-hosting/open-source, which raises the operational bar; it also lacks the IDE integration of Cursor or Copilot. ASEAN readiness is effectively universal since it is open-source and self-hostable with no regional restrictions.
