Pro is a fair upgrade for people who search and research daily: you choose among seven current models, get Deep Research and bigger upload limits, and can hand some multi-step work to Perplexity Computer each week. Every answer still carries inline citations, which remains Perplexity's main strength over a plain chatbot.
The weak spots are transparency and billing. Allowances are described in words rather than numbers, the frontier models and Model Council are reserved for Max, and Trustpilot reviews concentrate on charges and hard-to-reach support. Read the refund windows, which run to 24 hours on monthly plans outside Europe, and subscribe on the web.

Perplexity Pro is the middle tier of Perplexity's AI answer engine, sold at $17 a month billed annually. That is the only Pro price on Perplexity's plan pages; no month-to-month figure appears there, though the help centre does give Max as $200 a month or $2,000 a year against the $167 a month shown for annual billing. Pro has existed since at least June 2023, when the page promised GPT-4 access and higher Copilot limits.
What Pro buys in October 2026 is mostly access. A help-centre table dated 17 October lets Pro pick from seven search models, including GPT-6.1 Sol, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Grok 4.7 and Kimi K3, while Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra and Gemini 4 Argon stay on Max. Pro adds Deep Research, more file uploads, image and video generation, and a slice of Perplexity Computer, the company's autonomous agent: paid Pro plans get a weekly Computer allowance, still rolling out, plus a one-time 4,000-credit bonus worth $40 that expires in about 30 days. Max gets 10,000 credits a month and Model Council, which runs one question through three models. The help centre says Pro does not get Model Council; the pricing page FAQ says it does.
Limits are published as phrases, not numbers, such as extended access and more usage limits, and that vagueness feeds the billing complaints. On Trustpilot, Perplexity's unclaimed profile scored 1.4 from 840 reviews, 83% of them one-star, read 19 October 2026; recent reviews describe charges after trials, locked accounts and automated support. G2 showed 4.4 out of 5 from 361 reviews the same day, so the product and the billing experience earn very different grades.
Refund windows are short outside the EU, UK and Turkey: 24 hours on monthly plans and 72 hours on annual ones. For daily researchers who have outgrown the free plan, Pro is fair value; manage the subscription on the website rather than through an app store.
