Numerous.ai does one job well: it turns ChatGPT into a spreadsheet function. Write =AI() with a prompt and a cell reference, drag it down, and classification, extraction or rewriting runs across hundreds of rows without scripts or an API key; =INFER copies a pattern from a few examples.
It is a convenience layer over OpenAI, so quality depends on the prompt, usage is capped in characters, and every cell sent leaves your sheet, which rules out confidential data. Plans start at $8 a month billed yearly ($19 monthly) after a seven-day trial, though the site currently hides its plan table. A practical pick for non-technical analysts doing bulk text work.

Numerous.ai is an add-on for Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel from Numerous.ai, Inc., which says its team is based in San Francisco. It puts ChatGPT inside spreadsheet formulas. The core function is =AI(): combine prompt text and cell references, as in asking for a one-line summary of the customer message in A2, then drag the formula down a column. =INFER learns a task such as categorising items or formatting cells from four or five worked examples and fills in the rest, and =WRITE drafts text such as taglines or thank-you notes. The add-on can also write a formula from a plain-English request and explain an existing one. These functions were live by January 2023.
No API key is needed, because Numerous.ai holds the account with the AI provider. Its privacy policy says each request is sent to OpenAI through its API. Earlier versions of this page said users could choose Claude models; that claim traces only to a competitor's comparison page, and the vendor names OpenAI alone. The site says duplicate queries are avoided, which matters because usage is metered in characters.
Pricing is oddly presented. On 14 October 2026 the plan table on numerous.ai was hidden from view, though the page code still defined it: an individual plan with one million characters a month at $8 a month billed yearly or $19 monthly, a professional plan with five million characters, sharing for up to three people and email support at $24 billed yearly or $39 monthly, and an enterprise plan at $8 per user a month billed yearly or $10 monthly, starting at three seats. Each starts with a seven-day free trial. The Google Workspace listing shows more than 561,000 installs and describes the add-on as free with paid features.
For marketers and analysts doing repetitive text work across many rows, it removes the need for scripts. It is not suited to confidential data, since every cell sent goes to OpenAI.
