Jhana has real substance in Indian courts, where its automation handles hundreds of thousands of case files, but its offer has changed: the main site now sells consulting-style partnerships to law firms, and the self-serve paralegal that made its name lives on a side domain with prices that would not load. Its usage figures are its own. Promising for firms and courts wanting a legal-AI partner; individual lawyers should check the app's status before relying on it.
What we found
Jhana (stylised jhana) built its name as an AI paralegal for Indian law, offering cited legal research over Indian judgments, document analysis and drafting for lawyers. In late summer 2026 the company changed course. Its main website now presents Neoeconomica by jhana: an operating and technology partnership for law firms, AI audits, referrals to lawyers and court automation, priced by engagement with part of the fee tied to agreed results, and its terms state that nothing is bought through the site. The self-serve paralegal app still runs on a separate domain, with plans named Free, Paralegal, Pro and Pro Max, built on GPT and Claude models and including dictation, playbooks, long-running sessions, agentic Word drafting and document intelligence, but its prices failed to load when we checked, and prices quoted elsewhere for older Basic and Enterprise plans no longer appear.
Its court work is the most substantive part of the business. Jhana's case studies say the High Court of Karnataka has processed more than 300,000 case files through its system, cutting rote registry work by 83 per cent, and that the High Court of Gujarat runs 25 integrations; it says 16,150 lawyers and 650 judges have used its tools, all its own figures. Its technology combines a verification layer called Suit with agents and supports customers' own model keys or local models.
jhana Inc., a Delaware public-benefit corporation, was founded at Harvard in 2022 by Hemanth Bharatha Chakravarthy, Em McGlone and Benjamin Hoffner-Brodsky, and has offices in San Francisco, Cambridge and Bengaluru. In September 2024 it reported raising $1.6 million in a round led by Together Fund and Manav Garg, with angels including Razorpay's founders and CRED's Kunal Shah.
We found no independent reviews of the current offering. Jhana now suits Indian law firms and courts seeking a technology partner; individual lawyers wanting a self-serve AI paralegal should confirm the app is still supported before subscribing.
