iFlyCode covers the standard assistant toolkit, including completion, comments, unit tests, explanation, optimisation, SQL generation and repository search, and its private-deployment option and domestic vendor status are what set it apart for Chinese enterprises.
Maintenance is the concern: its own website did not resolve in October 2026, the latest plugin dates from December 2025, and no prices are published on any page we could read. Outside China-based teams with on-premises requirements, there are better-maintained choices.
What we found
iFlyCode (星火飞码) is iFlytek's AI coding assistant, built on its Spark (星火) models. It was introduced as iFlyCode 1.0 in August 2023 alongside Spark 2.0, and the VS Code extension first appeared that September. It runs as a plugin for VS Code and for JetBrains IDEs including Android Studio, and iFlytek also offers private deployment; a May 2025 Huawei Cloud solution guide sets it up on Ascend servers inside a customer's own cloud network.
The plugin documentation is specific about what it does: code generation from comments or function names in single-line or context-aware multi-line modes, function and inline comments, splitting long functions, code explanation, optimisation suggestions, unit-test generation with a choice of framework, and semantic search over a company's own repositories. Later releases added Go and C#, flowcharts from code, SQL generation and optimisation, and assistants for development, operations, product requirements and database work, several of them reserved for team, enterprise or private editions. Version 3.4.1 let the chat switch between iFlytek's private code model and any OpenAI-compatible model. iFlytek still described the product as current in an October 2026 investor reply.
The warning signs are about upkeep. On 14 October 2026 the product's own site, iflycode.xfyun.cn, did not resolve, and archived copies end in February 2026. The newest plugin release dates from December 2025, and the JetBrains build is marked compatible only up to 2024.3-generation IDEs. Earlier versions of this page claimed HarmonyOS Next support, an internal 30% adoption rate and accuracy above Western assistants; none of these could be traced.
Personal, team and enterprise editions exist and the site offered a personal trial, but no vendor page we could read today publishes prices. Interface, comments and support are Chinese-first. It suits Chinese teams that need a domestic vendor and on-premises deployment; most others will be better served by tools that are visibly maintained.
