Overview
CodeFuse is Ant Group's open-source AI coding project, launched in September 2023: code models fine-tuned with its MFTCoder framework, the OpenSumi-based CodeFuse IDE, agent frameworks and, more recently, F2LLM embedding models. Weights are free, under Apache-2.0 or a custom CodeFuse Community License; the IDE and chatbot have not been updated since 2024.

CodeFuse is valuable as a research resource: open code models, the MFTCoder multi-task fine-tuning framework, evaluation sets and newer embedding models from one of China's largest engineering organisations.
It is not a maintained coding assistant you can install today. The IDE and chatbot have been quiet since 2024, the headline benchmark results date from 2023, and the main code models use a custom licence rather than a standard open-source one.
What we found
CodeFuse is Ant Group's family of AI coding models and tools, open-sourced at the Bund Summit in Shanghai on 8 September 2023. It began as an internal assistant for Ant's own engineers: in April 2024 Ant said more than half of its programmers used it each week and that about a tenth of their submitted code came from it. The public side lives in the codefuse-ai GitHub organisation, which the project says has released fifteen code-related models along with training frameworks, evaluation sets and tools.
The best-known pieces are the 2023 and early-2024 code models, fine-tuned from CodeLlama, DeepSeek-Coder and Ant's own 13B model with the MFTCoder multi-task framework. Ant reported 74.4 per cent on HumanEval for CodeFuse-CodeLlama-34B and 78.65 per cent for its DeepSeek-33B variant, at a time when it put GPT-4 at 67 per cent; those are the company's own measurements on a benchmark that newer models have long since saturated. Later releases include the Rodimus-Plus-Coder and CodeFuse-CGM-72B code models in 2025, CodeFuse IDE, an AI-native editor built on OpenSumi, and agent and chatbot frameworks.
Licensing needs care. The main code models use a custom CodeFuse Community License that is royalty-free but adds attribution and notice terms, so they are open weights rather than open source in the strict sense. Newer models such as the F2LLM embedding family are Apache-2.0, as is most of the code. Earlier versions of this page called all the weights permissively licensed.
The project is active, but its focus has shifted. Recent releases are F2LLM-v2 embeddings, the OpAgent web agent and the CodeFuse-DeBench benchmark, while the portal, the IDE, whose last release was in December 2024, and the coding chatbot have gone quiet. We could not find a current CodeFuse assistant in the VS Code or JetBrains marketplaces, and no pricing is published.
CodeFuse is best treated as a research resource from a large Chinese engineering organisation, useful for code-model training recipes and embeddings, rather than a maintained coding assistant to adopt.
