Greptile's edge is context. It indexes the whole repository, so its reviews can flag a change that breaks a caller three modules away, and it learns team conventions from rules files and reactions to its comments. On Martian's independent Code Review Bench it posted the highest precision among the 15 tools on the last-month leaderboard (80.3%, read in October 2026), which answers the old complaint that it was noisy. The 82% catch rate it markets comes from its own 2025 test.
Pricing is credit-based: Pro is $30 per seat a month with 50 credits per seat and $1 per extra credit, and Plus and Apex reviews cost 3 and 10 credits, so heavy use of deep reviews needs modelling. Treat it as a strong first-pass reviewer rather than a merge gate.
What we found
Greptile is an AI pull-request reviewer built by Tabnam, Inc., a San Francisco company from Y Combinator's Winter 2024 batch, co-founded by Daksh Gupta, Soohoon Choi and Vaishant Kameswaran. It builds a graph of a repository's files, functions and dependencies, then reviews each pull request with that context, so it can flag a change that breaks code outside the diff. In September 2025 it announced a $25 million Series A led by Benchmark; its site now says more than 22,000 teams use it, a vendor figure.
The product has moved quickly in 2026. A free Starter plan for one developer arrived in June, alongside TREX, a beta that writes and runs targeted tests in a sandbox. July added a security agent combining Opengrep scanning, dependency checks and AI review. Version 5 in August split each review across narrowly scoped agents, and Greptile says median review time fell from 5:04 to 2:25. In late September it added Plus and Apex review tiers, which spend three and ten credits for deeper analysis.
The quality evidence needs sorting by source. The often-quoted 82% bug-catch rate comes from Greptile's own July 2025 test of 50 bugs, which an earlier version of this page called independent. Martian's independent Code Review Bench is more useful: on its last-month leaderboard, read in October 2026, Greptile ranked third on F1 at 63.3%, with recall of 52.2% and precision of 80.3%, the highest among the 15 tools shown.
Criticism exists but is thin on volume. One Hacker News commenter in January 2026 called Greptile "pretty much pure noise" after trying it, and disliked the confidence score attached to each pull request. Martian's precision figure suggests that is no longer typical, but noise is still worth testing for.
Pro costs $30 per seat a month with 50 credits per seat and $1 for each extra credit. Teams with large, interconnected codebases should trial it on real pull requests before treating it as a merge gate.
