Deep Research is Gemini's agentic mode that plans, browses many sources and assembles a long, cited report, which is genuinely useful for first-pass literature scans, market overviews and competitive landscapes. It is bundled into Gemini's paid plans rather than priced separately, so there is no extra cost if you already subscribe, and the long context lets it synthesise across dozens of pages well. It suits analysts, students and anyone who wants a structured starting brief rather than a one-line answer.
The honest caveats are the same as every deep-research mode: it can pad reports, occasionally cites weak or mismatched sources, and still needs a human to verify claims before anything important is built on it. It is not a separate product with its own API, so treat it as a feature of Gemini, not a standalone tool.
