ASEAN Perspective
Firebase Studio in Southeast Asia
ASEAN-region availability and pricing notes coming soon. Drop the editorial team a note via /contact/ if you can supply local context (Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia/Thailand/Vietnam).
Firebase Studio is Google's cloud IDE for building full-stack AI apps, combining a Gemini-powered coding workspace, prototyping from prompts, and tight Firebase integration for hosting, auth and data. While active it offered a fast prompt-to-app path with a generous free preview, attractive to developers already in the Google/Firebase ecosystem.
The decisive caveat: Google has signalled a wind-down, directing users to migrate Firebase Studio projects to Google AI Studio or Antigravity before 2027. That makes it a poor choice to start new long-lived projects on today. ASEAN access is fine via Google Cloud, but the strategic risk dominates. Treat it as transitional — evaluate the successor platforms instead.
