Felo's strongest ASEAN differentiator is its native multilingual search engine architecture: it supports Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, and other Southeast Asian languages alongside the dominant East Asian and European languages, making it genuinely useful for regional researchers and cross-border business intelligence rather than requiring users to switch to English for quality results. Data residency in ISO 27001-certified Japanese data centres — rather than US-based cloud infrastructure — is a practical compliance advantage for Singapore, Indonesia, and Philippines organisations operating under PDPA, PDP Law, and similar ASEAN data-protection regimes. The platform's pricing in JPY as well as USD, and its Product Hunt traction from APAC-origin developers, reflect a product built for the region. What we found
Felo is a Tokyo-built AI search and creation workspace. Ask a question in one language and it answers with cited sources it can draw from other language webs, then turns the result into slides, mind maps, documents, web pages, images or short videos. It is run by Felo Inc. (Felo株式会社), which says it was incorporated in July 2024 and is headquartered in the Shin-Marunouchi Building in Chiyoda-ku. The company's July 2025 Series A raised about ¥1.5 billion, roughly US$10 million, from Peak XV Partners and Mirae Asset Venture Investment, and at that point it claimed 1.2 million users, mostly in Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Its corporate site now claims more than 5 million cumulative users, a self-reported figure.
Pricing is credit-based. The free plan refreshes 200 credits a day and includes five professional searches and three file analyses daily. Pro costs $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year, not the $8.99 an earlier version of this page gave, and adds 15,000 credits a cycle on top of the daily 200. When the credits run out, Pro still allows 300 Pro searches a day, but slides, images and video stop until you top up. Team plans start at $49 per seat a month, or $39 billed yearly.
Pro also unlocks the full model lineup, which Felo rotates as new releases from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI arrive, plus API access through openapi.felo.ai, which has grown into a model-reselling LLM API alongside endpoints for search, slides, web extraction, X search and mind maps.
