This is not a separate app — it is the AI built into DingTalk, and that is the whole pitch: it already has your organisation's approvals, chats and documents, so it can summarise meetings, answer questions across company knowledge or run an agent without re-uploading anything. Since 2025 Alibaba has rebuilt it into a fuller platform — AI meeting notes, AI search, AI tables and the DEAP agent platform, with QwenWork agents on the way — and the agent builder supports DeepSeek as well as Qwen. Pricing is per organisation, not per seat: free weekly AI credits, then annual packs from ¥980 for 20,000 credits up to ¥980,000 for the largest. Generated copy can still contain factual slips, and the third-party agent marketplace is uneven. Makes sense only if your organisation already runs on DingTalk; the value evaporates outside it.
What we found
DingTalk, Alibaba's workplace app, introduced AI 助理 (AI Assistant) with version 7.5 in January 2024: an assistant inside the app that already sees an organisation's chats, documents and approvals, plus a builder for custom assistants, which at launch Alibaba said would be joined by more than 200 ready-made ones. Since then the AI layer has been rebuilt around it. DingTalk 8.0, branded "AI DingTalk 1.0" in August 2025, added AI 听记 for meeting notes, AI 搜问 for search across company knowledge, AI 表格 for AI-powered tables and a dedicated recording device. Version 1.1, in December 2025, added an agent operating system and DEAP, an enterprise AI-agent platform; and in August 2026 Alibaba said its new 千问办公 (QwenWork) agent would be built into DingTalk. The DingTalk website now advertises version 9.0. AI 助理 remains, mainly as the place inside DingTalk where DEAP agents are published.
The builder has kept growing: DeepSeek R1 and V3 became selectable in February 2025, assistants can be published to WeChat service accounts, mini-programs and web pages, and workflows can run Python and trigger approvals.
AI is now sold to organisations as credits called AI 算粒, covering search, meeting notes, tables and DEAP agents. Every organisation gets free credits each week — 300 if it has passed DingTalk's annual verification, 100 if not. Paid annual packs run from Lite, ¥980 for 20,000 credits, through Basic (¥9,800) and Plus (¥98,000) to Pro, ¥980,000 for 20 million credits, which also allows connecting up to 20 of the organisation's own models and publishing agents outside DingTalk. A separate personal 365 membership exists; its current price was not readable.
DingTalk says it serves more than 27 million organisations. For Southeast Asia, Alibaba has offered an overseas DingTalk plan with compliant data storage in regions including Southeast Asia at ¥500 per person a year, and DingTalk launched in Hong Kong in November 2024. A May 2024 hands-on review found factual slips in generated copy; the value depends on your organisation already running on DingTalk.
