Firefly is the safest choice for brands that need AI video they can use commercially: Adobe's own model is trained on licensed and public-domain content, Content Credentials are added automatically, and eligible enterprises can get IP indemnification. Its own clips are short — five seconds by default — but the app now bundles Veo, Kling, Runway and Luma models for longer, higher-resolution work, though those carry their own terms. Credits go quickly on the cheaper plans, and Adobe's own pages disagree on how many videos each plan buys. A sensible pick for Creative Cloud users and brand teams; creators chasing the best raw quality may prefer the partner models directly.
What we found
Adobe Firefly's video generator turns text prompts or still images into short clips inside the Firefly web and mobile apps, and the same technology powers Generative Extend in Premiere Pro, which lengthens a clip by up to two seconds of video or ten seconds of audio. Adobe's own Firefly Video Model, first released in beta in 2024, makes five-second clips at 24 frames a second by default and is trained on licensed content such as Adobe Stock and on public-domain material, not on Adobe users' content. The Firefly app also offers partner models — Google's Veo 3.1, Luma's Ray3, Kling 3.0 and Runway Gen-4.5 — that make clips of up to 8 or 15 seconds at up to 4K. A multi-track editor, Quick Cut, assembles the results, and Content Credentials are attached automatically.
That mix matters for commercial use. Adobe markets its own model as safe for commercial use, and eligible enterprise customers can get IP indemnification for select outputs; partner models carry their own terms, and Adobe says commercial eligibility depends on the model used.
Free users get daily generations that reset each day, including the Firefly Video Model and some partner models; Adobe publishes no number. Paid plans run on monthly credits that do not roll over. Firefly Standard costs US$9.99 a month for 2,000 credits, which Adobe's plans table says covers up to 20 five-second videos; Pro costs US$19.99 for 4,000 credits, up to 40 videos, plus Adobe Express Premium and Photoshop on web and mobile; Pro Plus costs US$49.99 for 10,000 credits; and Premium costs US$199.99 for 50,000 credits with unlimited use of the Firefly Video Model. Until 21 October, Pro Plus and Premium are discounted for the first year and include unlimited generations on selected models. Adobe's own pages disagree on video counts per plan, so check before buying, and prices vary by country. Creative Cloud Pro includes 4,000 Firefly credits.
