Marey's case is still legal cleanliness: a model trained only on licensed footage, with director-style controls that suit working filmmakers more than casual prompters. But the business around it has changed. Moonvalley shut its self-serve plans in March 2026, and its research leaders moved into Reka in a June 2026 merger whose announcement does not mention Marey.
You can still run it on fal.ai at $1.50 per five-second clip, which is a cheap way to test whether it suits your shots. Treat any long production commitment cautiously until Reka says what happens to the model.
What we found
Marey is the video model built by Moonvalley, a startup whose terms of service give a Toronto address and which TechCrunch described as Los Angeles-based. Marey entered beta in March 2025 and opened to the public in July 2025 on monthly credit plans that TechCrunch listed at $14.99, $34.99 and $149.99, with clips up to five seconds. Its pitch has not changed: Moonvalley says Marey was trained only on licensed, high-resolution footage with no scraped content, and it offers director-style controls for camera moves, pose and motion transfer, trajectories, keyframing and shot extension.
Two things changed in 2026. First, Moonvalley retired its Standard, Plus and Pro self-serve subscriptions, stopping all auto-renewals on 23 March 2026 and telling users to download their generations before their final billing period ended; from then on it would work only with enterprise and studio partners. Second, on 9 June 2026 Reka, the San Francisco AI lab, announced it had joined forces with Moonvalley in what its release calls a merger, bringing research leads Mateusz Malinowski and Mikołaj Bińkowski into Reka's research leadership. Bessemer Venture Partners, a Moonvalley investor, lists Moonvalley as acquired by Reka in June 2026. Reka's announcement does not mention Marey, and its later posts focus on world models and robotics.
Marey is still for sale through fal.ai. On 14 October 2026 fal listed Marey Realism V1.5 text-to-video and image-to-video at $1.50 for a five-second clip or $3.00 for ten seconds, and motion transfer and pose transfer at $2.00 per video. Moonvalley's own site is still up, with a public API waitlist and a partnership form, though its team page has not caught up with the merger.
An earlier version of this page quoted a Curious Refuge review that could not be found, and it has been removed. Studios buying on the licensed-data story should test Marey on their own shots and ask who supports it after the merger.
