Wispr Flow is a voice-dictation tool that converts speech into clean, auto-formatted text in any application, with strong accuracy, command-aware editing and cross-platform coverage (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android). For people who think faster than they type, it is a genuinely productive daily driver, and the $15/month Pro tier is reasonable for unlimited use.
It is cloud-dependent, so latency and privacy are real considerations for sensitive work, and the free tier is tightly capped at 2,000 words/week. Multilingual support is good for major languages but English-first; ASEAN regional language quality varies. A solid pick for English-heavy knowledge workers; check the privacy model before using it for confidential content.
What we found
The App Store says 4.8 stars from more than 16,000 ratings; Trustpilot now says nothing, having removed Wispr Flow's profile for going against its guidelines, so the 2.7 that used to sit beside it is gone. The organic complaints cluster after money changes hands — users describing dictation that "works 60% of the time" once the trial converts, a run of dictation-latency incidents across the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific from 27 May to 3 June 2026, followed by login and payment outages the next week — Wispr's own changelog conceded Flow "has been less reliable than it should be" — and third-party testing that measured idle use at around 800 MB of RAM and 8% CPU on a 2021 MacBook Pro. Windows users add reports of the app freezing whatever they're dictating into.
When it works, it's the best-regarded cleanup layer in dictation: filler words gone, punctuation added, lists structured when you say "first, second, third," tone adjusted per app so Slack stays casual and email stays formal. Coverage has treated its raw accuracy as top of class across Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, and since September 2026 transcription runs on Canto, Wispr's first in-house speech model.
Two structural things to price in. First, it's cloud-only, with no offline mode at any tier, and it took a 2025 privacy beating over capturing screenshots of the active window for context and routing audio through third-party infrastructure. Its current policy reads differently: context awareness is optional and reads on-screen text rather than screenshots, and training is opt-in. Second, at $15 a month, $12 billed annually, it costs well above Superwhisper's $8.49, which is why the reliability complaints sting; a Growth tier with a notetaker runs $23 to $33. The free tier caps desktop use at 2,000 words a week and mobile at 1,000, needs no card, and there is no individual Pro trial.
The company is well funded for the fight: a $280 million Series B at a $2 billion valuation in August 2026.
