Hexa AI gives Tenable One customers a genuinely useful way to query and act on large volumes of exposure data, and its confirmation-before-change design is sensible for security operations. It is only as valuable as your Tenable One deployment, pricing is entirely by quote, and its "only" and "first" claims are Tenable's own. A natural addition for existing Tenable customers; not a reason on its own to switch platforms.
What we found
Tenable Hexa AI is the artificial-intelligence layer of Tenable One, Tenable's exposure-management platform, which pulls together vulnerability scanning, cloud, identity, operational-technology, web-application and attack-surface data to show an organisation where it is most exposed. Hexa AI, announced in March 2026 and generally available from May, lets security teams ask questions in natural language, explains findings and attack paths, and carries out workflows — tagging assets, building dashboards, launching scans and opening tickets — asking for confirmation before it changes anything. Since July it has run as an always-on fleet of agents, and it is reachable through a chat interface or a Tenable-hosted MCP endpoint for customers' own AI tools. It runs on Anthropic models through AWS Bedrock, and Tenable says customer data is not used to train them. A companion capability, Tenable One AI Exposure, secures an organisation's own AI use, discovering and governing ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, MCP servers and AI coding tools such as Cursor. Tenable calls Hexa the world's only AI-powered exposure-management platform, its own claim.
Tenable, the Nasdaq-listed company behind the Nessus scanner, is based in Columbia, Maryland, and says it has more than 40,000 customers including 65 per cent of the Fortune 500. Its AI work began with ExposureAI, launched in August 2023, whose search and explanation features have since been folded into Hexa.
Tenable One is sold only by quote, in two packages, and Hexa AI is included in both. Foundation covers vulnerability management, web-app, OT and IoT security, attack-surface management, AI discovery, cloud workload protection, asset inventory and reporting; Advanced adds risk scoring and benchmarks, cloud security posture, workflow and attack-path analysis, and AI workload protection. Cloud-native protection, AI user and app governance and identity security are add-ons. Standalone Nessus Professional costs $4,790 a year.
