RECATOOLS Verdict

Shortwave is one of the most polished AI-native email clients, built on top of Gmail with AI summaries, natural-language search, smart drafting, scheduling and an increasingly autonomous assistant that can triage and act on your inbox. The UX is fast and genuinely thoughtful, and the AI features are well-integrated rather than bolted on.

It suits Gmail/Google Workspace power users and founders who live in email and want real productivity gains. Caveats: it is Gmail-only (no Outlook/IMAP for the core experience), the better AI tiers carry a meaningful per-seat cost, and as US SaaS there is no SEA-specific pricing or data residency, though it works fine regionally in English. There is an API/integration story but it is secondary to the client itself.
