Code Raccoon is SenseTime's answer to GitHub Copilot, and its free personal tier is generous: completion, generation, refactoring, unit tests, deployment scripts and code chat in VS Code, Android Studio and JetBrains IDEs. The ¥49 monthly upgrade adds workspace-aware completion and knowledge-base chat, and enterprise plans at ¥899 per seat a year include private deployment inside China, its strongest selling point for regulated companies there. Two cautions: the plugins and their open-source repositories have not been updated since 2024-25, and the product has moved from code.sensetime.com to the RaccoonWork site under a separately named operator. Benchmark claims are SenseTime's own. A sensible, cheap choice for Chinese-speaking developers and teams needing on-premises AI coding; elsewhere, more actively maintained tools are easy to find.
What we found
Code Raccoon (代码小浣熊) is SenseTime's AI coding assistant, launched in public beta in December 2023 and built on the company's SenseNova (日日新) models. It now sits in SenseTime's 小浣熊 RaccoonWork family beside an office assistant, at xiaohuanxiong.com — the old code.sensetime.com address no longer resolves — and the service is operated by Shanghai Yuhuan Technology under SenseTime branding. It offers line and block completion, code generation from comments, requirements documents or architecture outlines, refactoring, translation between languages, explanations, bug fixes, API documentation, unit tests and test data, deployment scripts, performance suggestions and commit messages, with chat that can reference local code, a knowledge base, Git diffs or the terminal, and an inline multi-file edit mode. SenseTime now claims more than 100 programming languages, up from 30 at launch, and a 90.9% first-pass rate on the HumanEval benchmark; both are its own figures.
It runs in VS Code, Android Studio and JetBrains IDEs, with Eclipse and Xcode listed as coming. The VS Code extension, under the Apache 2.0 licence, has about 39,000 installs and a 5.0 rating from 26 reviews; the JetBrains plugin has about 47,000 downloads and rates 3.0. Both were last updated in July 2025, and their public source repositories have not changed since August 2024, so development pace is worth checking.
The free personal tier covers almost everything above. The ¥49-a-month personal upgrade adds completion that uses your local workspace, chat over a personal knowledge base, a usage dashboard and cloud sync of prompts. The enterprise standard plan costs ¥899 per seat a year and adds department and permission management; a private-deployment option adds logging, on-premises or private-cloud installation, training and a year of model upgrades, including an appliance version. SenseTime says it does not use or retain your code for training.
For Chinese-speaking developers it is a cheap, capable Copilot alternative, especially for companies that need on-premises deployment inside China; elsewhere, better-supported tools are easy to find.
