Overview
PowerLaw (幂律智能) is a Beijing legal-AI company set up in 2017 by a Tsinghua team. It sells MeCheck contract review and MeFlow contract management to enterprises, built PowerLawGLM with Zhipu AI, and now serves small businesses and individuals through 无忧吾律 packages and the 吾律 AI lawyer. It is backed by BlueRun Ventures and Sequoia China.

MeCheck and MeFlow are a sensible pairing: one highlights risky clauses by severity and suggests edits, the other runs contracts from drafting to performance tracking, on SaaS or on premises, with named users including China Southern Power Grid. PowerLawGLM, trained with Zhipu AI in 2023, was an early Chinese legal model, though the company has since stopped heavy training and leans on agent workflows.
A Pre-B round of nearly RMB 80 million in 2023 and a newer AI-lawyer product for small businesses show a company still building. Everything assumes PRC law and Chinese documents; for ASEAN legal teams it is one to watch, not buy.
What we found
PowerLaw (幂律智能) is a Beijing legal-AI company, set up in 2017 and operated by 北京幂律智能科技有限责任公司. Its founders came out of Tsinghua University's computer science department; according to 36Kr, chief executive Tu Cunchao and co-founder Zhang Tianyang both did doctorates there. For companies it sells two products. MeCheck reviews contracts, highlighting risky clauses by severity and suggesting edits, and MeFlow manages contracts from drafting and approval through performance tracking, deployed as SaaS or on premises. The MeCheck page names users including China Southern Power Grid and 金拱门, McDonald's operator in China; earlier versions of this page said there were no named clients, no trial and no published pricing, and all three were wrong.
In June 2023 PowerLaw released PowerLawGLM, a legal model trained with Zhipu AI on the ChatGLM-130B base, which reached version 3.0 by December. That month the company announced a Pre-B round of nearly RMB 80 million led by BlueRun Ventures, with e-signature firm e签宝 joining and Sequoia China, Huayu, Source Code Capital, Linear Capital and Zhipu following on. It told 36Kr that business had grown more than 200% year on year; that figure has not been independently verified.
The newer bet is small businesses and individuals. 无忧吾律 began as a human-plus-AI legal adviser service, still listed at ¥5,999 to ¥18,999 per package. In an April 2026 Huxiu interview, chief technology officer Zhang Weishi said it had grown into 吾律, an AI lawyer that drafts claims, issues stamped lawyer's letters and walks users through online court filing, at ¥88 a month or ¥988 a year, and that PowerLaw stopped heavy model training in 2025. In August 2026 a sponsored article announced AI liability cover for 吾律 from PICC's Beijing branch.
Everything assumes PRC law and Chinese-language documents, MeCheck and MeFlow are priced by quote, and no public API is documented. For ASEAN legal teams it is a company to watch rather than one to buy from today.
