Nira does one job well: it finds every externally shared or public-link file across Google Drive, Microsoft 365 and Dropbox, shows who has access, and lets admins fix thousands of permissions at once, including during offboarding. Setup is through native APIs and quick.
The caution is ownership. Dropbox bought Nira in 2024 and put its technology into Dash, and the standalone site shows little new activity since then: no blog posts after April 2024. It is still sold by demo and priced per account, so ask Dropbox about the product's support horizon before signing a multi-year deal.
What we found
Nira is a data access governance tool for cloud documents, built by Hiten Shah and Marie Prokopets and operated by Find Your Info LLC, doing business as Nira, from a Redwood City, California address; the team says it has been fully remote from the start. Dropbox bought it in 2024. Dropbox's announcement of Dash for Business on 15 October 2024 said it had recently acquired Nira and built a custom access-control solution from it directly into Dash. No price was disclosed. Nira's privacy policy, updated on 24 October 2024, names Dropbox International as its EU representative.
The product is narrow and practical. It connects through native APIs, with no agents to install, and lists every file an organisation holds in Google Drive, Microsoft 365 and Dropbox alongside who can open it: employees, outside collaborators, personal accounts and anyone holding a public link. Admins can change permissions in bulk, offboard departing staff, audit vendor access, set alerts and automate security policies. Its FAQ still names Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Slack while the homepage headline names Dropbox instead of Slack, so ask which integrations are current. Nira says it holds SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certification.
The standalone site is still live in October 2026, with a sign-in and a demo form. It shows little sign of new work, though: the blog's last post is from April 2024 and the terms of use were last changed in June 2024. Earlier versions of this page said the founder had promised the standalone product would continue; no source for that was found.
Pricing is per account and quoted on request, with plans described for startups, mid-size businesses and enterprises, and extra features and premium support for organisations of 1,000 or more accounts. There is no free plan. For Workspace- or Microsoft 365-heavy IT teams it is still a quick way to find and fix oversharing, but buyers should ask Dropbox how long the standalone product will be supported.
