Bakuraku (バクラク) is a Japanese back-office suite from Tokyo-based LayerX, launched in January 2021 with invoice receipt. Bakuraku is a Japan-only product with no ASEAN or English-language availability as of mid-2026; the platform is purpose-built around Japanese regulatory requirements (電子帳簿保存法, インボイス制度) and Japanese ERP ecosystems. LayerX's Series B funding (September 2025) was explicitly directed at deepening Japan market penetration rather than regional expansion. Bakuraku (バクラク) is LayerX's suite of back-office software for Japanese companies. It began on 13 January 2021 with an invoice-receipt product and now covers expense claims, approvals, invoice issuing, receivables, a corporate card, electronic document storage, attendance, payroll and HR administration, plus newer help-desk and contract-management agents. A sales assistant, Bakuraku Sales AI, opened for pre-registration in October 2026. LayerX now pitches the whole line as AI agents: one collects invoices, another drafts and reviews payment requests, a third writes journal entries and double-checks them.
The numbers come from LayerX. Its site says more than 20,000 companies use Bakuraku and that service retention is above 99%, both as of June 2026, and it says its receivables agent automates 98% of payment matching. LayerX as a whole reported annual recurring revenue of ¥10 billion at the end of January 2026, a figure that includes its fintech and Ai Workforce businesses, not Bakuraku alone. In September 2025 it raised a ¥15 billion Series B led by TCV, which Business Insider Japan reported was TCV's first investment in a Japanese startup, with MUFG among the other investors.
Integration is specific rather than universal. The invoice product syncs master data and journals by API with freee and Kanjo Bugyo Cloud, and LayerX handles SAP, Oracle NetSuite and other accounting systems by consultation. The products are built around Japan's electronic bookkeeping law and qualified-invoice rules.
Pricing is mostly behind a form: expense, invoice, approval, issuing, receivables and attendance price lists are sent after you request them, though trials are offered. A few prices are public. Document storage is free up to 200 documents a month, then from ¥12,000 a month on an annual contract paid upfront. Payroll starts at ¥600 per employee a month, and the corporate card has no annual fee. Everything is in Japanese, with no English interface, and LayerX states on its site that it holds ISO 27001 certification.
