Briefpoint does one tedious job and does it thoroughly: drafting and answering US written discovery in the right local format, with objections, client collection in English and Spanish, and Bates-cited production packages. Newer playbooks and source-linked interrogatory answers make it more than a template engine, and the single published price is unusually plain for legal AI.
That price is now $150 per attorney a month, billed annually, which is harder to justify for occasional discovery. It is built entirely around US civil procedure, so it has no relevance to ASEAN practice. Worth it for US litigators with steady discovery volume.

Briefpoint, operated by The Simple Associate, Inc., automates written discovery in US litigation. Nathan Walter, a former litigator, built it with Chris Maffin, previously a lead engineer at Relativity, and the company says it launched in June 2022. It drafts interrogatories, requests for production and requests for admission, and responses to them with objections, in the right caption and format for all 50 states and 98 federal district courts, delivered as editable Word documents.
The product now reaches past drafting. Clients answer interrogatories and upload files through a secure link, in English or Spanish. The RFP feature finds responsive documents in the case file and writes a Bates-cited response with a production package; Briefpoint's FAQ aims it at routine matters with productions under roughly 10,000 pages. Discovery Playbooks, added in July 2026, store a firm's preferred objections and answers and surface them when a matching request appears. In September 2026 Briefpoint began drafting interrogatory answers from case files the user picks, each linked to its source page, and its own release notes say to treat them as an intern's work. It integrates with Clio, MyCase and Smokeball and states SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance.
Pricing has moved. Earlier versions of this page quoted $89 a month; the single Rainmaker plan is now $150 per attorney a month, billed annually at $1,800 a year, with no per-case fees and no free plan. The vendor's user count is inconsistent: its pricing and about pages say more than 1,000 firms, its FAQ more than 1,500.
A line earlier credited here to Lawyerist reviewers comes from Briefpoint's own homepage, where it is attributed to Timothy Workman of Nelson Mullins; no Lawyerist review of the product was found. The company has announced no funding round. Briefpoint suits US litigators with steady discovery volume, in plaintiff, defence, insurance and legal-aid practices. It is not a research or brief-writing tool, and it has nothing to offer for litigation outside the United States.
