Augmedix's strength was always choice: pure-AI notes for clinicians who edit their own, AI plus specialist editing for those who want coding and orders handled, and a dedicated live specialist for complex specialties. That range is still unusual among ambient scribes, most of which sell only the automated layer.
Buyers should evaluate it as Commure Ambient AI, which is where the product line is now marketed and developed; the Augmedix site has been static since the merger. Pricing is by quote only, and productivity figures on offer are the vendor's own.
What we found
Augmedix is one of the older names in ambient medical documentation. Its own site says it began delivering ambient documentation to health systems in 2013 and has produced more than 10 million notes, and it calls itself the first to do so, which is the company's claim rather than an audited one. It was listed on Nasdaq until Commure bought it for $2.35 a share in cash; the deal closed on 2 October 2024 and Augmedix became a wholly owned Commure subsidiary.
The augmedix.com site still describes three products. Augmedix Go is a self-service AI scribe that drafts a note within moments and leaves editing, coding and orders to the clinician. Augmedix Assist adds a medical documentation specialist who edits the AI draft, suggests codes, prepares after-visit summaries and referral letters, with notes ready for sign-off within an hour. Augmedix Live assigns a dedicated specialist who supports the clinician before, during and after the visit. The comparison table also lists bi-directional integration with Epic, Cerner, Meditech and athenahealth, support for 32 languages, CareCues real-time care-gap and billing prompts, and HITRUST certification.
The more important fact for a buyer in 2026 is where the product now lives. Commure's own site sells Commure Ambient AI in the same three levels, renamed Ambient AI, Ambient Assist and Ambient Live, plus an Ambient + tier with autonomous CPT and ICD-10 coding. Commure says its ambient suite supports tens of millions of appointments a year, and it raised $70 million at a $7 billion valuation in May 2026. The Augmedix site has had no news since the merger announcement.
Earlier versions of this page quoted a G2 rating and exact productivity percentages; neither could be read or traced on the research date, and Augmedix's own pages claim gains of up to 20%. Pricing is not published; everything is sold through a demo request to health systems and practices.
