TWD Cheque Words: Taiwan Bank Standard Format

New Taiwan Dollar (TWD) cheques must spell amounts in Traditional Chinese capital characters — a standard required by Taiwan\'s Central Bank and Bank Association. Rules are essentially identical to HK + mainland (anti-tampering motive); only the prefix differs — 新臺幣 (note: 臺 not 台 in formal docs) rather than 港幣 or 人民幣.

Key rules

(1) Capital characters 壹貳叁肆伍陸柒捌玖拾佰仟萬億 (Traditional). (2) 整 after whole-yuan amount. (3) Normally no decimal (TWD has none in practice). (4) Same zero-fill rules: 1,004 = 壹仟零肆元. Tool handles all automatically.

ASEAN Chinese use cases

SG + MY + ID Chinese businesses wiring funds to Taiwan, signing Taiwan-counterparty contracts, or doing Taiwan investments. Also for cross-strait family gifts + milestone-birthday red packets.

02

TWD bank cheques have no decimals — NTD has no fen/cent unit; whole yuan only.

03

TWD cheques require both capital + Arabic numerals; when they disagree, capital wording wins.

07

HKD, RMB, TWD share the same capital characters (壹貳叁...); only the prefix differs. All three share the "Chinese capital words" tradition.

09

SG/MY/ID businesses wiring to Taiwan typically need foreign-currency declaration form + TWD capital amount dual-filled.

10

Pairs with RT-CHN-028 (HKD), RT-CHN-009 (RMB), RT-CHN-027 (number-to-hanzi) — one-stop for Greater China financial documents.
