Riverside earns its place through local recording: each guest is captured on their own device in up to 4K and uploaded as the session runs, so a bad connection spoils the call, not the file. Transcript editing, Magic Clips and the Co-Creator agent then get a session to a publishable episode and shorts.
There is no longer a free plan, only a 14-day trial that needs a card, and prices depend on where you are: Pro is $24 a month billed yearly in Singapore and $29 in the US and Europe. Worth it for interview shows with remote guests.
What we found
Riverside's case rests on one design decision: it records every participant on their own device rather than capturing the call as it streams. Each guest's audio and video, up to 4K and 48kHz, is saved locally and uploaded progressively, so a weak connection degrades the live conversation rather than the master file. That is the argument for it over recording a Zoom call, and everything else in the product is built on those files.
Editing works on the transcript: delete words and the footage goes with them, and filler words and long silences can be cut automatically. Magic Clips pulls vertical shorts from a recording, Magic Audio cleans sound, and an AI agent called Co-Creator takes instructions in chat to trim, caption and repurpose. From the Grow plan upward a Riverside MCP lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor search transcripts and cut clips directly. Podcast hosting comes with every paid plan; social scheduling, 1080p multistreaming and webinars sit higher up.
The notable recent change is the price of entry. Riverside's own pricing explainer, updated in September, says it no longer offers a free plan, replacing it with a 14-day trial of Pro, Grow or Webinar that needs a card and bills on day 15. Earlier versions of this page still described a free plan. Prices vary by region: Singapore visitors are shown Pro at $24 a month billed yearly or $29 monthly, while Riverside quotes $29 and $35 for the US, UK, Canada, Australia and the euro area. Plans cap separate-track downloads at 15 to 25 hours a month, while recording itself is unlimited.
Riverside is an Israeli company started in 2020 by brothers Nadav and Gideon Keyson. A $30 million Series C led by Zeev Ventures in December 2024 took its funding to $80 million, according to TechCrunch.
For shows built on remote guests, local capture is a real advantage worth paying for; a solo creator recording at a desk is paying mainly for the editor.
