Recall.ai removes one of the most tedious jobs in meeting software: keeping bots working across six constantly changing video platforms. One API covers them, the Desktop and Mobile SDKs add botless capture, and the pricing is plain: $0.50 per recording hour since early 2026, no platform fee, $0.15 an hour for built-in transcription, and a free calendar API.
It is strictly a developer product, costs scale with hours recorded, and consent to recording remains your product's problem. For teams shipping meeting intelligence it is close to the default choice.

Recall.ai is developer infrastructure, not a notetaker: one API that sends a bot into Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, GoTo Meeting and Slack Huddles calls and returns recordings, transcripts and participant metadata. It is operated by Hyperdoc Inc. from San Francisco, went through Y Combinator's Winter 2020 batch, not W21 as this page said, and its meeting API dates from 2022. The company names HubSpot's notetaker, Fireflies, ClickUp and Apollo.io among products built on it.
The bot is now one of several ways in. A Desktop Recording SDK captures calls on the user's own machine with no bot in the room, a Mobile Recording SDK covers phone calls and in-person meetings, and a free Calendar API schedules bots from Google and Microsoft calendars. Bots can send chat messages and play audio or video into a call, the basis for agents that speak in meetings. Recordings can be kept in the US, the EU or Japan.
Pricing is usage-based and published. Pay As You Go costs $0.50 per recording hour, prorated to the second, with the first five hours free; Recall.ai cut it from $0.70 in early 2026 and dropped its monthly platform fee. Built-in transcription adds $0.15 an hour, storage is free for seven days and then $0.05 per recording hour for 30 days, and four-core or GPU bots cost $0.10 or $1 an hour more. Startups can apply for $0.25 an hour on their first 10,000 hours. Launch and Enterprise are quoted, Enterprise adding SSO, uptime guarantees and a HIPAA BAA.
Funding came as a $10 million Series A led by Ridge Ventures in May 2024 and a $38 million Series B led by Bessemer in September 2025, which Pulse 2 reported at a $250 million valuation; the company says more than 3,000 companies now use the API. An older platform-fee figure and a revenue estimate from Sacra have been removed. For teams building meeting features it is the default build-versus-buy answer; anyone wanting a personal notetaker needs an app instead.
